Through legislative advocacy and strategic partnerships, CWC has helped advance critical policies, including the passage of the Sickle Cell Treatment Act in California.Advocacy Day InitiativeCWC&rsquo;s annual Advocacy Day mobilizes patients, caregivers, and community stakeholders from across California to engage directly with policymakers. This initiative builds a strong, informed network of advocates who elevate issues impacting the SCD community, promote equitable access to care, and influence health policy at the state and national levels.Position OverviewWe are seeking a results-driven, proactive, and community-focused Advocacy and Community Engagement (ACE) Manager to lead outreach, coordination, and engagement efforts for CWC&rsquo;s Advocacy Day initiative.This role is responsible for building and mobilizing a statewide network of advocates, increasing participation in Advocacy Day, and strengthening relationships with community organizations, stakeholders, and legislative partners. The ACE Manager will play a key role in ensuring that Advocacy Day is impactful, well-attended, and aligned with CWC&rsquo;s broader policy and equity goals.Candidates invited to interview will be asked to present a 30/60/90-day plan outlining their strategy for outreach, relationship building, and measurable outcomes. Candidates should review Advocacy Day materials on the Cayenne Wellness Center website prior to interviewing.Key Responsibilities:Outreach &amp; Recruitment<ul><li>Identify, recruit, and engage patients, caregivers, community members, and partner organizations to participate in Advocacy Day</li><li>Once identified, train those that desire to be local regions coordinators (December - April)</li><li>Identify speakers for trainings</li><li>Conduct outreach via phone, email, virtual meetings, and in-person engagement</li><li>Build and maintain a strong pipeline of engaged advocates across California</li></ul>Advocate Engagement &amp; Preparation<ul><li>Support the development and coordination of Advocacy Day trainings and materials</li><li>Prepare participants to effectively engage with legislators and policymakers</li><li>Ensure advocates understand key policy priorities and messaging</li></ul>Relationship Building<ul><li>Establish and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, healthcare partners, and advocacy groups</li><li>Serve as a liaison between CWC and external stakeholders</li><li>Strengthen partnerships that support long-term advocacy efforts</li></ul>Event Coordination Support<ul><li>Assist in planning and execution of Advocacy Day activities, including scheduling, logistics, and participant coordination</li><li>Help coordinate meetings with legislative offices and stakeholders</li><li>Support on-the-ground or virtual execution of Advocacy Day</li></ul>Tracking &amp; Reporting<ul><li>Maintain detailed records of outreach, partnerships, and participant engagement</li><li>Track metrics related to recruitment, participation, and outcomes</li><li>Provide regular progress reports to leadership</li></ul>Collaboration<ul><li>Work closely with the CWC team to align advocacy efforts with organizational priorities</li><li>Contribute ideas to expand advocacy reach and deepen community impact</li></ul>What You Bring<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field (Master&rsquo;s preferred)</li><li>3+ years of experience in advocacy, community engagement, public health, or related work</li><li>Strong outreach, recruitment, and relationship-building skills</li><li>Excellent communication and public speaking abilities</li><li>Experience engaging diverse communities and addressing health disparities</li><li>Highly organized with strong tracking, reporting, and project management skills</li><li>Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment</li><li>Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and presentation tools</li><li>Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred</li></ul>Success Profile &ndash; Who Thrives in This Role<ul><li>A self-starter who is energized by community engagement and advocacy.</li><li>Someone who is persistent, organized, and relationship-driven.</li><li>A communicator who follows up consistently and documents progress clearly.</li><li>A person who brings enthusiasm, professionalism, and cultural awareness.</li><li>Someone who turns passion for public health into tangible community impact.</li></ul>Why Join CWCAt CWC, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by educatingcommunities, supporting families, and advancing health equity.
