JOB SUMMARY

The Accountant facilitates efficient operations between the accounting department and project management team, ensuring accurate financial forecasting, cost reconciliation, billing, compliance, and timely financial reporting. This hands-on role requires strong accounting expertise and a solid understanding of job cost principles.

Working closely with the Director of Finance and Project Managers, the ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys cross-functional teamwork while helping drive project success. Note: This role is eligible for 1 day remote work opportunity after a probationary period, and will initially be based out of our Newton, MA headquarters with the option to operate out of our Manchester, NH office after a training/probationary period. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
<ul>
<li>Work with project management teams to prepare, execute, and submit monthly owner billings, including lien waivers and supporting documentation as required</li>
<li>Manage job cost accounting, ensuring accurate tracking of labor, materials, subcontractor costs, and change orders</li>
<li>Manage budget upload process from excel templates to Accounting and Project Management systems</li>
<li>Collaborate with project managers to review budgets, forecasts, cost reports, and billing status</li>
<li>Perform monthly general ledger entries and balance sheet reconciliations</li>
<li>Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues</li>
<li>Reconcile subcontracts for closed jobs monthly</li>
<li>Assist with the preparation of Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules</li>
<li>Assist with budget tracking, variance analysis, and financial reporting</li>
<li>Participate in the implementation of accounting system improvements and workflow enhancements</li>
<li>Perform other duties as required</li></ul> 


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
<ul>
<li>Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field with at least three years of professional accounting experience; prior construction industry experience a plus</li>
<li>Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities</li>
<li>Exceptional attention to detail</li>
<li>Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills</li>
<li>Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously</li>
<li>Ability to work collaboratively with different teams</li>
<li>Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment</li>
<li>Positive working attitude and strong work ethic</li>
<li>Willing to learn and be flexible</li>
<li>Reliable transportation</li></ul> 


 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

<li>Experience with Procore and Viewpoint Spectrum</li>
<li>Proficiency with Excel</li></ul>

<li>Expected base salary range: $82,000 - $102,000 depending on experience</li>
