JOB SUMMARY
The Accountant facilitates efficient operations between the accounting department and project management team, ensuring accurate financial forecasting, cost reconciliation, billing, compliance, and timely financial reporting. This hands-on role requires strong accounting expertise and a solid understanding of job cost principles.
Working closely with the Director of Finance and Project Managers, the ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys cross-functional teamwork while helping drive project success. Note: This role is eligible for 1 day remote work opportunity after a probationary period, and will initially be based out of our Newton, MA headquarters with the option to operate out of our Manchester, NH office after a training/probationary period.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Work with project management teams to prepare, execute, and submit monthly owner billings, including lien waivers and supporting documentation as required
- Manage job cost accounting, ensuring accurate tracking of labor, materials, subcontractor costs, and change orders
- Manage budget upload process from excel templates to Accounting and Project Management systems
- Collaborate with project managers to review budgets, forecasts, cost reports, and billing status
- Perform monthly general ledger entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
- Reconcile subcontracts for closed jobs monthly
- Assist with the preparation of Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules
- Assist with budget tracking, variance analysis, and financial reporting
- Participate in the implementation of accounting system improvements and workflow enhancements
- Perform other duties as required
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field with at least three years of professional accounting experience; prior construction industry experience a plus
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work collaboratively with different teams
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Procore and Viewpoint Spectrum
- Proficiency with Excel
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Expected base salary range: $82,000 - $102,000 depending on experience
