Summary: 
The purpose of the Patient Care Technician is to assist the nurse and respiratory therapist in patient care delivery of patients ranging from zero to 18 years old, and assist in managing the customer service experience during the patient stay within the organization.<div>
Responsibilities: 
<ul><li>Prepare rooms for patient admission with appropriate equipment and supplies based on age and needs of patient; perform basic patient care tasks including baths, vital signs, positioning, ambulating, appropriate disposal of hazardous waste, and documentation of intake/output or other tasks delegated by the registered nurse (RN) within the scope of job duties.</li><li>Has the ability to perform advanced patient care tasks if assigned by their respective areas (See addendum).</li><li>Respond quickly to patient and family needs and problem solve appropriately in collaboration with the RN; maintain a safe patient environment at all times and transport stable patients to procedures or testing within the Children's Medical Center physical building requiring minimal therapy needs in addition to patient discharge.</li><li>Assist in emergency situations by initiating BLS, continuing chest compressions, and/or participate as a runner; assist with unit regulatory readiness as assigned (including code cart checks); demonstrate skills as identified on the unit-based competency checklist, document legibly and completely.</li><li>May perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul></div><div> 
WORK EXPERIENCE 
<ul><li>If a student, must be actively enrolled in an accredited nursing program. Req</li><li>If not a student, 1 year of experience as a CNA, EMT, or Medical Assistant. Pref</li><li>For the ED and ICU, 1 year of field experience as a paramedic or EMT Pref</li></ul> 

EDUCATION 
<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent Req</li><li>For non-nursing students, completion of a certified nurse assistant training, basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedic or Medical Assistant program or equivalent. Req</li></ul>

 Summary
 
 
 
 Responsible for all aspects of daily operations with emphasis on the quality and timeliness of anesthesia technician support, the availability of anesthesia-related supplies and equipment, and the successful resolution of issues. Ensures that staff is adequately trained and able to function in all anesthetizing locations. Coordinates operational duties such as completion of a master schedule in conjunction with the anesthesiology / nursing board-runner and administrative supervisors. Investigates patient care issues as necessary in conjunction with department director, the medical director, and the quality control administrator. This position will spend 60% of their time in clinical shifts and 40% of their time in administrative/leadership, recognizing that at least 10% of their time in the clinical shifts is still spent coaching, mentoring, and developing staff.
 
 
 
 Responsibilities
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Participate in the selection, training and skill development of direct reports
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintain master staffing schedule, Kronos timekeeping, coordinate staffing needs, monitor attendance and productivity
 </li>
 <li>
 Responsible for managing PTO requests and coordinating with other team leaders to ensure adequate coverage
 </li>
 <li>
 Responsible for disciplinary actions (documentation, verbal warnings, written warnings) under the oversight of Manager and Director
 </li>
 <li>
 Evaluate employee performance against existing department standards including annual PEAC review, quarterly reviews, coaching, etc.
 </li>
 <li>
 Participate in creating and revising department policies
 </li>
 <li>
 Must have a good working knowledge of computers and proficiency with data
 </li>
 <li>
 Coordinate &amp; participate in scheduled department in-service programs &amp; staff meetings
 </li>
 <li>
 Operational/Education/Quality/Risk Management/Survey Readiness:
 </li>
 <li>
 Deploy staff to ensure appropriate coverage in all clinical support areas
 </li>
 <li>
 Monitor and assure direct reports are adhering to hospital and department policies and procedures related to patient care, safety and quality, operations &amp; financial stewardship
 </li>
 <li>
 Function in the capacity of an Anesthesia Technician during staffing shortages; including but not limited to: call-ins, no-shows, on-call, high census
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensure that new staff are thoroughly oriented to role prior to working independently
 </li>
 <li>
 Partner with Perioperative leadership in developing, implementing and maintaining an orientation and development program for Anesthesia Technicians and Perioperative roles
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensure that staff have a variety of appropriate in-services, training and educational opportunities related to credentialing, job requirements and professional development
 </li>
 <li>
 Collaborate with external departments on operations issues or concerns (Perioperative Services, Heart Center, Radiology, CCBD, Pharmacy, Biomed, and Supply Chain)
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensure that staff are adequately prepared for surveys and audits in conjunction with Director, Quality Coordinator and/or Physician leader
 </li>
 <li>
 Function in the capacity of an Anesthesia Technician during staffing shortages; including but not limited to: call-ins, no-shows, on-call, high census
 </li>
 <li>
 Partner with Perioperative leadership in developing, implementing and maintaining an orientation and development program for Anesthesia Technicians and Perioperative roles
 </li>
 <li>
 Responsible for supply ordering, inventory management, and to optimize efficiency while minimizing waste and redundancy
 </li>
 <li>
 Review monthly reports from finance; determine justification for line item variances
 </li>

 Participate in the capital equipment planning process to identify equipment needs for the department

 Work Experience

 LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

 Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Upon Hire required
