Summary: 
The Transport Paramedic may function as lead caregiver in a two-person team (medic/medic composition) and will be the third team member of a critical care team (RN/RT/Medic). The Paramedic will function independently and makes complex and critical judgements during the transport of patients of all ages who have been classified as BLS and/or ALS 1-2 category. As a member of the critical care team, the Transport Paramedic will assist the Transport RN and RT with patient care while utilizing their advanced skills and training. The paramedic will have an active role in managing the customer service experience during the transport of patient and family members.<div>
Responsibilities: 
<ul><li>Makes critical clinical judgments without direct supervision on the transport team and with Behavioral Health Vehicle transports. Remains compliant with paramedic transport protocols and orders given from medical direction</li><li>Performs transport of patients (including driving of transport vehicle) to procedures, tests performed off hospital campus and multiple treatment facilities upon discharge; responds quickly to patient and family needs while collaborating with the transport RN and RT on a treatment plan during transports</li><li>Performs basic and advance skills when deemed appropriate while utilizing the Transport Paramedic protocols.</li><li>Performs all BLS and advanced skills during patient care including, but not limited to: initiation of PIV catheters; priming IV fluids (excluding blood products); naso/oral/pharyngeal suctioning; insertion of NG/OG tubes and insertion and maintaining of Endotracheal Tube</li><li>Assists in emergency situations by initiating BLS and ALS life saving skills, assisting with chest compressions, and/or participating as a vital member of the transport team.</li><li>Transports behavioral health patients via the Behavioral Health Vehicle program to behavioral health facilities with a medic/medic team</li><li>Performs documentation of patient care in a computerized data base program as specified by department and hospital guidelines.</li><li>Assists critical care RN and RT with the stabilization and transport of critically ill and injured neonatal and pediatric patients.</li><li>Applies family and patient centered care to all job aspects and support family during air transports and all phases of care</li><li>Assists and performs independently with regulatory readiness, inventory of equipment on ambulance and store rooms, and daily checks of the contents and mechanical function of the ambulance.</li><li>Participates in monthly meetings, committees, and maintains all required training.</li><li>Assists in educational activities within Transport Services including: new employee orientation, in-service education, both internal and external, as specified by outreach coordinator and education coordinator; participate in department committees.</li><li>Assists in the training and development of new staff to the department. Provides objective feedback to team leader/manager related to progress of new hires.</li></ul></div><div>
WORK EXPERIENCE 
<ul><li>At least 3 years job related experience as a paramedic Req</li><li>At least 2 years licensed Ambulance Operator experience Req</li><li>At least 1 year experience in acute care / emergency setting Req</li><li>At least 1 year pediatric experience Pref</li></ul> 
EDUCATION 
<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training beyond high school Req</li><li>Completion of a paramedic program with licensure Req</li></ul>

 Summary
 
 
 
 Responsible for all aspects of daily operations with emphasis on the quality and timeliness of anesthesia technician support, the availability of anesthesia-related supplies and equipment, and the successful resolution of issues. Ensures that staff is adequately trained and able to function in all anesthetizing locations. Coordinates operational duties such as completion of a master schedule in conjunction with the anesthesiology / nursing board-runner and administrative supervisors. Investigates patient care issues as necessary in conjunction with department director, the medical director, and the quality control administrator. This position will spend 60% of their time in clinical shifts and 40% of their time in administrative/leadership, recognizing that at least 10% of their time in the clinical shifts is still spent coaching, mentoring, and developing staff.
 
 
 
 Responsibilities
 
 
 
 <ul>

 Participate in the selection, training and skill development of direct reports
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintain master staffing schedule, Kronos timekeeping, coordinate staffing needs, monitor attendance and productivity
 </li>
 <li>
 Responsible for managing PTO requests and coordinating with other team leaders to ensure adequate coverage
 </li>
 <li>
 Responsible for disciplinary actions (documentation, verbal warnings, written warnings) under the oversight of Manager and Director
 </li>
 <li>
 Evaluate employee performance against existing department standards including annual PEAC review, quarterly reviews, coaching, etc.
 </li>
 <li>
 Participate in creating and revising department policies
 </li>
 <li>
 Must have a good working knowledge of computers and proficiency with data
 </li>
 <li>
 Coordinate &amp; participate in scheduled department in-service programs &amp; staff meetings
 </li>
 <li>
 Operational/Education/Quality/Risk Management/Survey Readiness:

 Deploy staff to ensure appropriate coverage in all clinical support areas

 Monitor and assure direct reports are adhering to hospital and department policies and procedures related to patient care, safety and quality, operations &amp; financial stewardship

 Function in the capacity of an Anesthesia Technician during staffing shortages; including but not limited to: call-ins, no-shows, on-call, high census
 </li>

 Ensure that new staff are thoroughly oriented to role prior to working independently
 </li>

 Partner with Perioperative leadership in developing, implementing and maintaining an orientation and development program for Anesthesia Technicians and Perioperative roles
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensure that staff have a variety of appropriate in-services, training and educational opportunities related to credentialing, job requirements and professional development
 </li>
 <li>
 Collaborate with external departments on operations issues or concerns (Perioperative Services, Heart Center, Radiology, CCBD, Pharmacy, Biomed, and Supply Chain)
 </li>
 <li>
 Ensure that staff are adequately prepared for surveys and audits in conjunction with Director, Quality Coordinator and/or Physician leader
 </li>
 <li>
 Function in the capacity of an Anesthesia Technician during staffing shortages; including but not limited to: call-ins, no-shows, on-call, high census
 </li>
 <li>
 Partner with Perioperative leadership in developing, implementing and maintaining an orientation and development program for Anesthesia Technicians and Perioperative roles
 </li>
 <li>
 Responsible for supply ordering, inventory management, and to optimize efficiency while minimizing waste and redundancy
 </li>

 Review monthly reports from finance; determine justification for line item variances
 </li>

 Participate in the capital equipment planning process to identify equipment needs for the department
