Summary
Responsible for all aspects of daily operations with emphasis on the quality and timeliness of anesthesia technician support, the availability of anesthesia-related supplies and equipment, and the successful resolution of issues. Ensures that staff is adequately trained and able to function in all anesthetizing locations. Coordinates operational duties such as completion of a master schedule in conjunction with the anesthesiology / nursing board-runner and administrative supervisors. Investigates patient care issues as necessary in conjunction with department director, the medical director, and the quality control administrator. This position will spend 60% of their time in clinical shifts and 40% of their time in administrative/leadership, recognizing that at least 10% of their time in the clinical shifts is still spent coaching, mentoring, and developing staff.
Responsibilities

Participate in the selection, training and skill development of direct reports

Maintain master staffing schedule, Kronos timekeeping, coordinate staffing needs, monitor attendance and productivity

Responsible for managing PTO requests and coordinating with other team leaders to ensure adequate coverage

Responsible for disciplinary actions (documentation, verbal warnings, written warnings) under the oversight of Manager and Director

Evaluate employee performance against existing department standards including annual PEAC review, quarterly reviews, coaching, etc.

Participate in creating and revising department policies

Must have a good working knowledge of computers and proficiency with data

Coordinate & participate in scheduled department in-service programs & staff meetings

Operational/Education/Quality/Risk Management/Survey Readiness:
-
Deploy staff to ensure appropriate coverage in all clinical support areas

Monitor and assure direct reports are adhering to hospital and department policies and procedures related to patient care, safety and quality, operations & financial stewardship

Function in the capacity of an Anesthesia Technician during staffing shortages; including but not limited to: call-ins, no-shows, on-call, high census

Ensure that new staff are thoroughly oriented to role prior to working independently

Partner with Perioperative leadership in developing, implementing and maintaining an orientation and development program for Anesthesia Technicians and Perioperative roles

Ensure that staff have a variety of appropriate in-services, training and educational opportunities related to credentialing, job requirements and professional development

Collaborate with external departments on operations issues or concerns (Perioperative Services, Heart Center, Radiology, CCBD, Pharmacy, Biomed, and Supply Chain)

Ensure that staff are adequately prepared for surveys and audits in conjunction with Director, Quality Coordinator and/or Physician leader

Function in the capacity of an Anesthesia Technician during staffing shortages; including but not limited to: call-ins, no-shows, on-call, high census

Partner with Perioperative leadership in developing, implementing and maintaining an orientation and development program for Anesthesia Technicians and Perioperative roles

Responsible for supply ordering, inventory management, and to optimize efficiency while minimizing waste and redundancy

Review monthly reports from finance; determine justification for line item variances

Participate in the capital equipment planning process to identify equipment needs for the department
Work Experience
-
At least 4 years job-related experience required
EDUCATION
-
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training beyond high school required

Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Upon Hire required

Current ASATT Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.) or Current Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) 180 Days preferred
