Position OverviewChrist Church Cathedral, a historic church in downtown Nashville, is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Bookkeeper to support the financial operations and stewardship of our organization. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, trustworthy, and comfortable managing recurring accounting tasks with consistency and accuracy. The position includes a mix of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual responsibilities.Key ResponsibilitiesWeekly Duties<ul><li>Process payroll for weekly and semi-monthly employees</li><li>Make all payroll tax deposits</li><li>Pay vendor bills and manage accounts payable</li><li>Record donations and make remote bank deposits</li><li>Respond to occasional inquiries from parishioners regarding giving</li><li>Complete ~4 hours of the work above on-site (Monday or Tuesday required)</li></ul>Monthly Duties<ul><li>Record all credit card, PayPal, and Venmo transactions</li><li>Perform bank and credit card reconciliations</li><li>File sales tax reports</li><li>Assist with monthly financial close as needed</li></ul>Quarterly Duties<ul><li>Record endowment earnings and reconcile investment accounts</li><li>Prepare and file payroll tax reports</li><li>Generate and distribute donor giving statements</li></ul>Annual Duties<ul><li>Prepare and issue Form 1099s and W-2s</li><li>Assist auditors as needed</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Proven bookkeeping or accounting experience (3+ years preferred)</li><li>Strong understanding of payroll processing and tax compliance</li><li>Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar)</li><li>High level of accuracy and attention to detail</li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information</li><li>Strong organizational skills</li><li>Comfortable communicating with staff and parishioners as needed</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Experience working with nonprofits, churches, or similar organizations</li><li>Familiarity with donor tracking and contribution systems</li></ul>Compensation<ul><li>Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
