Job Description 
Overview
The City Detention Officer I performs jail guard duties by processing and monitoring the prisoners in custody at the Dallas City Detention Center.
Essential Functions
1. Processes incoming and outgoing adult prisoners and escorts prisoners to and from assigned cells according to established procedures; searches prisoners for weapons and contraband; processes findings accordingly and maintains an inventory of prisoner personal property.
2. Books and fingerprints prisoners according to department guidelines and policies; determines the appropriate housing situation for prisoners entering the system.
3. Conducts visual and video-assisted dorm searches; conducts prisoner headcounts and facility inspections to ensure all prisoners are accounted for and the facility is secure; effectively operates metal detectors, fire extinguishers, live scan technology, and other systems, equipment, and software.
4. Monitors and observe prisoners&rsquo; activities to ensure no disturbances occur; subdues and restrains aggressive or violent prisoners using approved methods to ensure the safety and security of staff and prisoners.
5. Assists and ensures that prisoners are afforded medical and mental health treatment as deemed necessary.
6. Maintains Detention Center logs and writes various reports related to specific incidents at the detention center.
7. Maintains cleanliness in cells.
8. Performs other work as needed or assigned. 
Knowledge and Skills<ul><li>
Knowledge of state laws pertaining to jail facilities and detention of prisoners.</li><li>
Knowledge of fingerprinting techniques.</li><li>
Skill in de-escalation techniques and ability to handle angry or irate persons.</li><li>

Ability to give clear instructions and follow established protocols.</li><li>

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION<div><ul><li>
High school diploma or GED.</li></ul>
EXPERIENCE<ul><li>
One (1) year of relevant work experience in law enforcement in a municipal or county environment.</li></ul>
EQUIVALENCY<ul><li>
An associate degree (or higher) in a criminal justice, business, public administration, or social science field will meet the education and experience requirements.</li></ul>
LICENSES and CERTIFICATIONS<ul><li>
Valid driver&rsquo;s license with good driving record.</li><li>
Attend and successfully complete internal training for Detention Officers, both in classroom and on tactical defense.</li><li>
Attend and complete annual refresher Detention Officer training.
</li></ul>OTHER REQUIREMENTS<ul><li>
Must be 18 years of age.</li><li>
Must pass an intensive background investigation and drug test.</li><li>
No Felony or Class A Misdemeanor convictions.</li><li>
No Class B Misdemeanor convictions within the last ten (10) years.</li><li>

The Recreation Supervisor manages, supervises, and oversees the overall operations of a community recreation center, including staff, independent contractors and volunteers. Responsible for the fiscal management of the center, goal setting, and communication of the organization, media, all levels of management, and the diverse population within the community service level.
1 Supervisor - Recreation
Essential Functions
1 Supervises, oversees, manages, and monitors the daily operations of a community center; assists 
with opening and closing procedures for the center, handles cash and daily revenue accounting, and ensures the facility is clean and aesthetically appealing; develops and implements long range plans, programs and schedules; determines goals and objectives needing emphasis.
2 Coaches and mentors staff, reviews and approves work schedules, approves and submits time cards, and meets with staff one-on-one to provide corrective action regarding their work; evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques; identifies staff development and training needs and recruits, selects, assigns, and motivates the performance of subordinates.
3 Recommends recreation specific programming techniques, procedures, materials and equipment; trains and instructs subordinates, volunteers, contract instructors, and participants concerning policies, procedures, and programs.
4 Develops and maintains cost-effective and revenue generating recreation programs and services that meet the needs of the community and are in compliance with all laws, policies, regulations, goals, and safety standards.
5 Assesses trends in the community for new programs and services; evaluates programs and events for effectiveness and participation levels, assists in the development of new programs, and recommends program changes; tracks services provided, monitors results, and generates operational or program reports as needed.
6 Compiles statistical data and prepares reports on attendance, facility use and budgeted expenditures; prepares and monitors the center's annual operating budget and ensures the proper maintenance of all program files and records.
7 Performs any and all other tasks as needed or assigned.
2 Supervisor - Outdoor Adventures
Essential Functions
1 Supervises, oversees, manages, and monitors the daily operations of Outdoor Adventures at Samuell Farm, assists with opening and closing procedures for the Visitor Center, handles cash and daily revenue accounting, and ensures the center is clean and aesthetically appealing; develops and implements long range plans, programs and schedules; determines goals and objectives needing emphasis.
2 Coaches and mentors staff, reviews and approves work schedules, approves and submits time entry, and meets with staff one-on-one to provide corrective action regarding their work; evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques; identifies staff development and training needs and recruits, selects, assigns, and motivates the performance of subordinates.
3 Recommends outdoor recreation specific programming techniques, procedures, materials and equipment; trains and instructs subordinates, volunteers, contract instructors, and participants concerning policies, procedures, and programs.
4 Reviews and prepares recommendations for Outdoor Adventures programs and recreation program policies for the department; coordinates the implementation of approved programs city-wide.
5 Coordinates, implements, and directs a variety of outdoor recreation activities including, but not limited to: Adventure camps and daily programs including mountain biking, archery, kayaking, nature photography, geocaching, conservation programs, arts and crafts, survival skills, camp games, and overnight camping trips.
6 Evaluates programs and events for effectiveness and participation levels, assist in the development of new programs, and recommend program changes; track services provided, monitor results and generate operational/program reports as needed.
7 Provides input for the preparation of the Outdoor Adventure program&rsquo;s annual budget; seeks alternative funding for programs and facility enhancements including sponsorships, donations, and grants.
8 Develops and maintains cost-effective and revenue-generating recreation Outdoor Adventures programs and assures activities meet community needs, and are in compliance with all laws, policies, regulations, goals and safety standards.
9 Monitors registration of participants and promotes program participation using marketing tools such as brochures and fliers, social media content, and signage; prepares press releases and news articles for local papers; prepares agendas and presentations for Executive Team and Park Board meetings.
10 Purchases and maintains program supplies and equipment according to the DPARD Purchasing and Procurement policy and procedures.
11 Conducts inspection of facilities and equipment; submits work orders and recommendations for facility improvement
12 Ensures full implementation and maintenance of the Rec Trac registration system.
13 Monitors the park and reports any safety concerns or issues to Park Maintenance.
14 Maintains the safety, security, cleanliness and order of Samuell Farm facilities; assesses problems and assists supervisor in implementation of appropriate solutions.
Knowledge and Skills
1 City policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct and safety of persons using municipal recreation facilities, programs and equipment.
2 Knowledge of human relations and supervision necessary to function as a first or second level supervisor. Supervising, coordinating, and monitoring the work of subordinate staff providing assistance to the recreation programs and facilities.
3 Effective verbal and written communication.
4 Safety rules and precautions/occupational hazards, knowledge of first aid principles and practices.
5 Ability to maintain accurate financial and personnel records.
6 Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with all levels of management, city officials, vendors, other government agencies, other employees and the general public.
7 Principles, practices, philosophy and objectives of public recreation programs and services, effective program planning, development, administration and evaluation.
8 Effective and appropriate public contact and telephone techniques.
9 Principles and practices of marketing, advertising, promotions and customer service.
10 Modern office practices and procedures.

12 Ability to interpret and explain department and program policies, rules and procedures.
Experience
Five (5) years' experience in recreation program development, implementation, and facilitation, and one (1) year of supervisory/lead work experience.
Preferred: experience in outdoor education and national certifications in kayaking/paddle sports, mountain biking, Wilderness First Aid, archery, Leave No Trace, and survival skills.
Education
High School Diploma, GED
A bachelor&rsquo;s or 4-year degree is preferred.

The Airport Noise Monitoring Specialist performs a wide range of airport management responsibilities and provides specialized knowledge in noise abatement and noise management for the airport and surrounding areas.
Essential Functions
1 Assists, supports and participates in maintaining the airport in order to meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and advisory circulars for airport operations and noise management; performs work in line with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) rules for security, compliance, and adherence to environmental regulations.
2 Performs both semi-skilled and skilled labor in the Aircraft Operations Area (AOA) of all City of Dallas owned and operated airports; provides specialized knowledge and management of airport noise and abatement procedures; identifies issues with the surrounding communities and works to resolve noise concerns.
3 Performs daily safety, security and operational inspections of the airport&rsquo;s equipment, runways, taxiways, perimeter fences and gates for compliance with Federal, State and local airport rules and regulations.
4 Assists and participates in a wide range of airfield and airport maintenance tasks including pavement maintenance, wildlife management, and noise abatement and management.
5 Responds to and provides assistance as needed, during aircraft emergencies facility equipment failure, airfield lighting failures, building/structure emergencies, pavement failures, hazardous incidents and related emergency situations.
6 Maintains work records, including complaint resolutions, maintenance and repair logs, vehicle inspection forms, daily work logs, FAA inspection records, noise complaints, and other documentation; assists the public by properly responding to routine questions or complaints and requests for service; handles noise issues quickly and effectively.
7 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
1 Knowledgeable in City organization, operations, policies and procedures.
2 Knowledgeable in the safe operation of trucks, tools and equipment according to airport operating and safety procedures.
3 Ability to perform a wide variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in maintenance and repair of airport facilities and equipment.
4 Ability to operate a variety of simple to complex power tools or power equipment used in construction or landscaping.
5 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
6 Ability to use and apply two way radio communications devices.
7 Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a wide variety of people.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:<ul><li>

EXPERIENCE:<ul><li>
Two (2) years of experience in airport operations, airport communications, construction, noise or environmental acoustics monitoring in the public or private sectors.</li></ul>
