Overview

The Airport Noise Monitoring Specialist performs a wide range of airport management responsibilities and provides specialized knowledge in noise abatement and noise management for the airport and surrounding areas.

Essential Functions

1 Assists, supports and participates in maintaining the airport in order to meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and advisory circulars for airport operations and noise management; performs work in line with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) rules for security, compliance, and adherence to environmental regulations.

2 Performs both semi-skilled and skilled labor in the Aircraft Operations Area (AOA) of all City of Dallas owned and operated airports; provides specialized knowledge and management of airport noise and abatement procedures; identifies issues with the surrounding communities and works to resolve noise concerns.

3 Performs daily safety, security and operational inspections of the airport’s equipment, runways, taxiways, perimeter fences and gates for compliance with Federal, State and local airport rules and regulations.

4 Assists and participates in a wide range of airfield and airport maintenance tasks including pavement maintenance, wildlife management, and noise abatement and management.

5 Responds to and provides assistance as needed, during aircraft emergencies facility equipment failure, airfield lighting failures, building/structure emergencies, pavement failures, hazardous incidents and related emergency situations.

6 Maintains work records, including complaint resolutions, maintenance and repair logs, vehicle inspection forms, daily work logs, FAA inspection records, noise complaints, and other documentation; assists the public by properly responding to routine questions or complaints and requests for service; handles noise issues quickly and effectively.

7 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

1 Knowledgeable in City organization, operations, policies and procedures.

2 Knowledgeable in the safe operation of trucks, tools and equipment according to airport operating and safety procedures.

3 Ability to perform a wide variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in maintenance and repair of airport facilities and equipment.

4 Ability to operate a variety of simple to complex power tools or power equipment used in construction or landscaping.

5 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

6 Ability to use and apply two way radio communications devices.

7 Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a wide variety of people.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, Public or Airport Administration, Airport Management, Air Transportation, Acoustics, Environmental Science or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Two (2) years of experience in airport operations, airport communications, construction, noise or environmental acoustics monitoring in the public or private sectors.

EQUIVALENCIES:

  • High school diploma or GED plus seven (7) years of required experience will meet the education and experience requirements. associate degree in any field plus six (6) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.

  • Associate degree in a specified field plus five (5) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements

  • Bachelor's or higher in a non-specified field plus five (5) years of the specified experience will meet the education and experience requirements

  • Master's degree (or higher) in a specified field will meet the education and experience requirements

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • A valid driver's license and good driver's record.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Subject to 24 hour/weekend callout in response to HAZMAT spills


Salary Range


$26.65 - $31.28


The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
