The <b>ideal candidate</b> for the Senior Services Transportation Coordinator is an organized, detail-oriented professional with strong paratransit experience and a solid understanding of relevant laws and regulations. They excel in scheduling, routing, and using transportation software while effectively leading staff and volunteers to maintain smooth, compliant operations. With excellent customer service skills they build strong relationships with participants, staff, and volunteers and ensure safe, reliable, and responsive transportation services for Huntington Beach&rsquo;s older adult community.</p><div></div><b><br>
JOB SUMMARY</b><br>
With general supervision, coordinates on-demand response transportation services for older adults and performs related duties as assigned.<br>

Supervises: Administrative support staff, part-time staff and volunteers as assigned<br>

<b>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS</b><br>
The Transportation Coordinator is a single position job class with responsibility for scheduling and coordinating transportation services. The Transportation Coordinator oversees and trains staff and volunteers.</div><br>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Examples of Essential Duties</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><ul><li>Coordinates on-demand response transportation operations to ensure timely, efficient and safe customer service</li><li>
Schedules and dispatches routes; provides guidance and direction to drivers in route</li><li>
Investigates complaints, accidents and personal injuries and completes necessary reports</li><li>
Oversees and monitors routes and lift operations to ensure sufficient staffing to facilitate orderly movement of passengers</li><li>
Reviews and updates routes; calls in substitute drivers when necessary</li><li>
Coordinates the daily work of personnel; assigns, schedules and monitors work</li><li>
Appraises performance</li><li>
Trains personnel and volunteers; promotes the observation of safe work practices at all times</li><li>
Maintains records, and prepares periodic reports</li><li>
Assists with scheduling for special events and outreach efforts</li><li>
Drives a city vehicle in the course of duties, including providing route coverage, responding to incidents or services disruptions, conducting field evaluations and supporting operational needs</li><li>
Manages and maintains transportation software to ensure accurate scheduling, routing, and reporting for senior transportation services</li><li>
Ensures program operations are compliant with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards</li><li>
Assists with managing the Department of Transportation (DOT) commercial drivers&rsquo; program and related records</li><li>

<b>
Education:</b> A high school diploma or equivalent certificate. Some college level coursework in a human services field preferred.<br>
<br>
<b>Experience: </b>A minimum of one (1) year of experience in transportation operations, transit program coordination, or related community services work, preferably within programs serving older adults or individuals with mobility limitations.<br>
<br>
<b>Licenses/Certifications: </b>Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required at the time of appointment and throughout employment. Must obtain a Class B California driver&rsquo;s license with Passenger Endorsement within six (6) months of hire.<p></p><p><b><br>
SPECIAL CONDITIONS</b><br>
Employees regularly assigned/required to drive a city or personal vehicle in the course and scope of work shall be required to participate in the DMV Employer Pull Notice program.</p><b>
Public Employee Disaster Service Worker:</b> In accordance with Government Code Section 3100, all Huntington Beach city employees are required to perform assigned disaster service worker duties in the event of an emergency or a disaster.<div></div><div><b><br>

Work involves light to moderate work in an office setting. There is some exposure to the elements and potential exposure to infectious disease when driving. There is a frequent need to sit and infrequent need to stand, walk and to lift heavy objects.
