Job Description: LEAD TEACHER/CAREGIVERProgram: PreschoolReports to: PCCC DirectorEssential duties &amp; Responsibilities<ul><li>Develop and provide a Christian-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities that encourage learning and the spiritual, social and emotional growth of young children.</li><li>Teach and encourage young children with patience and creativity, promoting their self-esteem and self-discipline.</li><li>Always maintain classroom staffing ratio requirements.</li><li>Maintain daily and open communications with parents encouraging family engagement in the program.</li><li>Assure the safety and well-being of all children in your care. This includes reporting damaged or malfunctioning equipment or supplies to the Center&rsquo;s Director and removing broken toys from the classroom.</li><li>Plan, coordinate and supervise appropriate field trips with the approval of the Center&rsquo;s Director.</li><li>Work within and promote a cooperative and collaborative team approach with all staff members, including the Center&rsquo;s director, volunteers, and parents.</li><li>Collaborate with the Infant &amp; Toddler Lead Caregiver/Teacher on special and/or activities days.</li><li>Collaborate and share resources and toys with the Infant &amp; Toddler room staff.</li><li>Knowledge of using and implementing a curriculum within developmentally appropriate diameters for the whole class and children as individuals.</li><li>Prepare and provide monthly curriculum and activities lesson plan to the Center&rsquo;s Director and parents.</li><li>Collaborate, discuss, and share ideas, plans, and suggestions with both the Center&rsquo;s Director and the Infant &amp; Toddler Lead Caregiver/Teacher so that both programs complement each other to create a cohesive Center.</li><li>Perform proper assessments for each child enrolled in the Preschool program.</li><li>Work with parents and/or guardians to ensure that each child is appropriately prepared for Kindergarten.</li><li>Provide written or typed documentation promptly to the Center&rsquo;s Director of a child&rsquo;s extreme or unusual behavior issues.</li><li>Train, support and supervise assistants, aides and volunteers in the classroom.</li><li>Promptly notify the Center Director of an ill or injured child.</li><li>Promptly report any suspected evidence of child abuse or neglect to the Central Registry and the Center&rsquo;s Director.</li><li>Maintain licensing requirements set forth by the State of Michigan Licensing Regulatory Affairs for Child Care Centers.</li><li>Accurately maintain and complete any required documentation, time sheets, reports, and/or record keeping, and submit to the Center&rsquo;s Director within deadlines.</li><li>Participate in staff meetings, training and professional development opportunities approved by the Center&rsquo;s Director.</li><li>Maintain all aspects of confidentiality as it pertains to student, families, coworkers, and other protected information.</li><li>Perform other duties and responsibilities, not in conflict with PCCC Board policies or Federal or State law, as assigned by the Center&rsquo;s Director.</li></ul>Education, Experience and/or Other Qualifications:<ul><li>Must meet the education, coursework and Hours of Experience as set forth in. R 400.8122 of the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.</li><li>Must successfully complete annual training in CPR, First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens.</li><li>Must successfully complete any other required training or certifications.</li><li>Must complete and successfully pass required background checks.</li><li>Must be able to interact with children at their own physical level by bending, squatting, kneeling and/0r sitting on the floor or on small chairs.</li></ul>Signature below signifies that the Employee has reviewed the contents of this job description and that the Employee is aware of and understands the requirements of this position; that the Employee understands she/he is an At Will Employee, meaning that either Employee or the Employer may end the relationship at any time.Contact Terri Banaszak, Program Administrator by email: terrib@clareumc.org.
