Position SummaryThe Head Start Preschool Teacher Aide supports a classroom serving children ages 3 to 5 years and works collaboratively with the Lead Teacher to ensure a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.This position assists in implementing a comprehensive early childhood program aligned with Head Start Program Performance Standards (45 CFR 1302), supporting school readiness, social-emotional development, and individualized learning for children of all abilities.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Teacher Aide supports effective classroom practices in the following areas:<ul><li>Promote positive teacher-child interactions (CLASS&trade; aligned)</li><li>Assist in maintaining a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment</li><li>Support daily routines and transitions (meals, rest, activities)</li><li>Assist with implementation of Creative Curriculum for Preschool</li><li>Support child assessment and documentation (e.g., observations, checkpoints)</li><li>Help meet the needs of all children, including those with disabilities and dual language learners</li><li>Build respectful partnerships with families</li><li>Collaborate with teaching staff and participate in professional development and coaching</li><li>Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and licensing requirements</li></ul>Minimum Qualifications<ul><li>Must be 18 years of age or older</li><li>High School diploma or GED (required)</li><li>Preschool CDA (or willingness to obtain within required timeframe) preferred or Associate&rsquo;s/Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field</li><li>Experience working with preschool-aged children (3&ndash;5 years) preferred</li><li>Basic computer skills (email, data entry, internet navigation)</li><li>Valid driver&rsquo;s license</li><li>Must pass all required background checks (federal, state, and DHR)</li><li>Must obtain/maintain CPR &amp; First Aid certification</li></ul>Physical Requirements<ul><li>Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed</li><li>Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor</li><li>Ability to actively supervise and engage with children in a classroom and outdoor setting</li></ul>Work Environment<ul><li>Preschool classroom</li><li>Exposure to communicable illnesses typical in early childhood environments</li><li>Occasional travel for training or meetings</li><li>Combination of active classroom work and light documentation duties</li></ul>Why Join CAASA?At CAASA, you&rsquo;ll be part of a mission-driven organization committed to strengthening families, promoting school readiness, and building stronger communities.
