<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>ABOUT THE POSITION</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><p><b>There is one vacancy for a Senior level IT Project Manager within the IST Department&rsquo;s Project Management Office (PMO).</b></p><p>
The Senior IT Project Manager works with a team of IT professionals to manage the health and delivery of IT projects (Agile, hybrid, and Waterfall) in areas ranging from hardware, software, cloud, data, and more. They are responsible for all phases of the project lifecycle, from requirements gathering, planning, design, testing, and implementation, and for providing ongoing project status and resource reporting to the PMO Manager for roll-up to senior leadership. They collaborate with stakeholders to develop project goals, objectives, and timelines. Additionally, they may handle Requests for Proposals (RFP&rsquo;s), contract management, invoice payment, and manage vendor relationships and related business activities.</p><p>
The Senior IT Project Manager is the technical specialist level in the series. Under minimal direction, employees at this level ensure that assigned projects are successfully delivered, tasks are properly documented, and processes are designed with a focus on continuous improvement and full lifecycle management. As a senior, they are expected to handle projects independently and provide guidance to less experienced team members. They will also be required to present in front of a diverse audience. In addition, the Senior IT Project Manager supports the PMO program by developing, updating, and documenting project management policies, standards, and guidelines.</p><p><b>
Remote Work Options: </b>Some duties for this position may be performed remotely and <b>options for a hybrid (telework/onsite) work schedule are available</b>. However, the successful candidate must be able to report to County facilities for various meetings and work assignments upon short notice, as needed, and when deemed appropriate.</p></div><p></p>

<p></p><div><p><b>Our Highly Qualified Candidate</b> has experience managing a variety of IT projects simultaneously and can work independently without extensive supervision. They have significant knowledge of project management best practices, tools and terminology, such as Issue Log and RACI Matrix. They have utilized project management applications such as Asana and have extensive proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio, as well as experience using generative AI responsibly. This candidate has a proven track record of delivering projects on time, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, and quickly diagnosing issues to implement effective solutions. Moreover, they must be skilled in identifying what to prioritize and effectively manage tasks accordingly.</p><p>
Additionally, the Senior IT Project Manager is an effective communicator both verbally and in writing, who can present to and collaborate with diverse groups of people, including users, subject matter experts, non-technical users, vendors, senior leadership, and project sponsors.</p><p>
Familiarity with the operating practices and organizational structure of a public-sector agency and certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Program Management Professional (PgMP), Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP) and PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) are highly desirable. Extensive experience in change management and business analysis is a plus.</p><p><b>

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</b></p><p>
Any <b>six-year</b> combination of recent professional project management experience and/or relevant computer science coursework that demonstrates the necessary knowledge and abilities. A typical way of achieving these requirements would be graduation with a bachelor&rsquo;s degree from an accredited program in computer science or a related field and project management certification.</p><p><b>
Please note:</b></p><ul><li>
Fifteen (15) semester units of computer science coursework from an accredited program and in a discipline relevant to the assignment is equivalent to a full year of related professional experience that has provided the required knowledge and abilities of the role.</li><li>
Required education may be substituted with related professional experience on a year-for-year basis.</li><li>
Internships completed in conjunction with coursework are excluded from being credited towards work experience, if they are counted towards educational requirements.</li><li>
Recent experience is defined as experience gained, in part, in the last five years or longer, if technically relevant.</li></ul><p><b>

<p></p><div><div>The Fuels Crew Member is a 1-year entry-level Student Internship position responsible for both wildland fuels reduction and participation in educational and professional development activities through the FIRE Foundry program. Crew members will engage in physical fieldwork including cutting, piling, and chipping vegetation; reducing hazardous fuels along roadsides, open space, and wildland areas; and supporting prescribed fire operations. Duties also include safe operation and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, and related equipment, as well as completing basic vehicle maintenance tasks. During emergency incidents, the crew may assist with fire suppression support roles.</div><div></div><div><br>
As part of the FIRE Foundry program, this position also includes taking courses at the College of Marin, which may include Fire Technology, Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and other training and professional development opportunities designed to support career pathways in fire service and emergency response.</div><div></div><div><b><br>
Duties and Responsibilities may include:</b></div><ul><li>
Fuel Reduction: Perform tasks such as cutting, removing, chipping, and piling vegetative material to reduce wildfire risk and improve defensible space.</li><li>
Tool &amp; Equipment Maintenance: Clean, sharpen, and maintain hand and power tools, including chainsaws. Perform routine maintenance on utility vehicles and equipment.</li><li>
Fire Suppression Support: Assist with fire suppression activities as assigned, including supporting prescribed burn operations and flood control efforts during local emergencies.</li><li>
Safety: Follow all safety procedures, utilize proper personal protective equipment, and attend required safety trainings.</li><li>
Training &amp; Coursework: Enroll in and complete required Fire Science and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) coursework at the College of Marin and attend required fire service trainings and certifications.</li></ul>
