The Senior Materials Scientist will play a pivotal role in leading the development, testing, and optimization of cutting edge optical additive materials. This hands on lab role requires expertise in designing and conducting experiments, as well as a deep understanding of complex polymer systems and their industrial applications. Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Lead lab based research on new material formulations, additive systems, and complex polymer testing for performance, durability, and optimization.</li> <li>Manage the transition from lab scale to commercial production, ensuring product quality, commercial viability, cost efficiency, and production optimization.</li> <li>Develop and manage long term R&D plans, lead project teams, mentor junior staff, and engage with leadership to drive innovation.</li> <li>Build and maintain relationships with commercial partners, suppliers, and external research groups to support product development and market entry.</li> <li>Drive patent strategy and manage intellectual property development.</li> <li>Stay updated on emerging technologies and represent the company at industry forums and conferences.</li> <li>Conduct market and competitive analysis and assess new materials for integration into future products.</li> </ul> Qualifications: <ul> <li>A PhD in Materials Science/Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.</li> <li>A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.</li> </ul> Requirements: <ul> <li>Expert knowledge of characterization techniques (UV-Vis, FTIR Spectroscopy, DSC, TGA, mechanical testing).</li> <li>A deep understanding of polymer processing, additives, optical materials science, and polymer chemistry.</li> <li>A track record in product development and scaling up products to commercial production.</li> <li>Exceptional communication and presentation skills.</li> <li>Proven leadership experience able to lead, inspire, and develop technical teams.</li> <li>Highly organized with strong analytical skills.</li> <li>An entrepreneur with a commercial and strategic mindset.</li> <li>A knowledge and understanding of quality standards and regulations for commercial materials.</li> <li>Experience in global markets and cross cultural environments.</li> <li>Fluent in English, both written and verbal.</li> <li>The desire to travel when required.</li> </ul> Compensation: A highly competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with the successful candidate's level of experience.
