The Opportunity:

Ready to spearhead and transform cutting-edge lab research into impactful, market-ready Ag Tech solutions that benefit farmers worldwide. The Senior Materials Scientist will play a pivotal role in leading the development, testing, and optimization of cutting-edge optical additive materials. This hands-on lab role requires expertise in designing and conducting experiments, as well as a deep understanding of complex polymer systems and their industrial applications.

Responsibilities:

• To lead lab-based research on new material formulations, additive systems, and complex polymer testing for performance, durability, and optimization.
• To manage the transition from lab-scale to commercial production, ensuring product quality, commercial viability, cost-efficiency, and production optimization.
• To develop and manage long-term R&D plans, lead project teams, mentor junior staff and engage with leadership to drive innovation.
• To build and maintain relationships with commercial partners, suppliers, and external research groups to support product development and market entry.
• To drive patent strategy and manage intellectual property development.
• To stay updated on emerging technologies and represent the company at industry forums and conferences.
• To conduct market and competitive analysis and assess new materials for integration into future products.

Qualifications:

• A PhD in Materials Science/Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Requirements:

• Expert knowledge of characterization techniques (UV-Vis, FTIR Spectroscopy, DSC, TGA, mechanical testing).
• A deep understanding of polymer processing, additives, optical materials science, and polymer chemistry.
• A track record in product development and scaling up products to commercial production.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
• Proven leadership experience able to lead, inspire, and develop technical teams.
• Highly organized with strong analytical skills.
• An entrepreneur with a commercial and strategic mindset.
• A knowledge and understanding of quality standards and regulations for commercial materials.
• Experience in global markets and cross-cultural environments.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
• The desire to travel when required.
