<div>The Rosato lab studies the function and regulation of T cells in distinct tissue environments, with an emphasis on nervous tissue, to be able to contextualize their role in health and disease. And the potential to study how environmental influences drive activity dependent maturation of the nervous and immune systems throughout life. The successful candidate will conduct tests and experiments under guidance from the Principal Investigator and lab members as defined in the lab&rsquo;s research protocols. Responsibilities will include daily laboratory operations, mouse husbandry and tissue collection, designing and executing experiments, applying established methods, procedures, and techniques.</div>

<b>Basic laboratory skills:</b>
</div><ul><li>Molarity/dilution calculations, accurate solution formulation, ability to understand and follow basic laboratory protocols independently, willingness to work with mice and infectious agents.</li>

<li>Maintenance of accurate lab notebooks</li>

<div><div><b>Experiments:</b></div><ul>
<li>Under guidance from the PI and senior lab members conducts and assists with specified laboratory experiments, utilizing a range of established methods, procedures, and techniques; e.g., flow cytometry and microscopy.</li>
<li>Under guidance of PI or senior lab members, accomplishes necessary preparations to include equipment and instrumentation set-up, specimen preparation, etc.</li>
<li>Observes experiments while in progress; records observations; troubleshoots as necessary.</li>
<li>Reconciles results that are disparate from anticipated findings; re-runs techniques as necessary.</li>
<li>Notifies principal investigator of problems associated with experiments, measurements, or analyses and suggests changes to methods, procedures, or techniques as appropriate.</li>
<li>Maintains laboratory notebook recording tasks performed.</li>
<li>Adheres to laboratory safety requirements including general and chemical/hazardous waste safety disposal methods.</li>
<li>Collects and analyzes data resulting from experimentation/testing and presents findings to Principal Investigator.</li>

 To set up and conduct a variety of laboratory tests and experiments in support of research studies directed by applying established methods, procedures, and techniques; and to serve on a research team involved in the investigation of lung infections and how microbes adapt to the host using genetics and microbiology. The position may involve interacting with other research groups through a role in the Translational Research Core which analyzes clinical samples relevant to lung infections, including those associated with cystic fibrosis. Opportunities for publication, participation in seminars and meetings, and other professional development opportunities are available.
