Job OverviewThe Ambulance Dispatcher is responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency communications and coordinating the timely dispatch of ambulance units. This role requires strong multitasking abilities, clear communication skills, and sound judgment in high-pressure situations. Dispatchers work closely with local police departments, communications centers, fire agencies, and field personnel to ensure efficient emergency medical response.Duties<ul><li>Receive emergency calls from the police department communications center, fire agencies, and direct 911 callers.</li><li>Dispatch ambulance units promptly and accurately based on call priority, location, and resource availability.</li><li>Maintain constant radio and phone communication with ambulance crews, police departments, communications centers, and fire agencies.</li><li>Monitor unit status and track ambulance locations to ensure efficient response and coverage.</li><li>Provide clear, calm, and professional communication during high-stress emergency situations.</li><li>Accurately document call information, dispatch times, and incident details in the dispatch system.</li><li>Prioritize multiple incoming calls and requests while maintaining situational awareness.</li><li>Coordinate with external agencies including law enforcement and fire departments during emergency incidents.</li><li>Perform additional administrative or operational tasks as required while managing dispatch responsibilities.</li></ul>Requirements<ul><li>Strong multitasking ability in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Excellent verbal communication and listening skills.</li><li>Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.</li><li>Strong situational awareness and critical thinking skills.</li><li>Ability to process and relay information quickly and accurately.</li><li>Professional radio and telephone communication skills.</li><li>Basic computer and dispatch software proficiency.</li></ul>Pay: $17.50 per hourBenefits:<ul><li>On-the-job training</li><li>Paid time off</li></ul>Work Location: In person
