Ambulance Dispatcher

Job Overview

The Ambulance Dispatcher is responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency communications and coordinating the timely dispatch of ambulance units. This role requires strong multitasking abilities, clear communication skills, and sound judgment in high-pressure situations. Dispatchers work closely with local police departments, communications centers, fire agencies, and field personnel to ensure efficient emergency medical response.

Duties

  • Receive emergency calls from the police department communications center, fire agencies, and direct 911 callers.
  • Dispatch ambulance units promptly and accurately based on call priority, location, and resource availability.
  • Maintain constant radio and phone communication with ambulance crews, police departments, communications centers, and fire agencies.
  • Monitor unit status and track ambulance locations to ensure efficient response and coverage.
  • Provide clear, calm, and professional communication during high-stress emergency situations.
  • Accurately document call information, dispatch times, and incident details in the dispatch system.
  • Prioritize multiple incoming calls and requests while maintaining situational awareness.
  • Coordinate with external agencies including law enforcement and fire departments during emergency incidents.
  • Perform additional administrative or operational tasks as required while managing dispatch responsibilities.

Pay: $17.50 per hour
