Promotes and coordinates the use of instructional resources, technology, and equipment which will enrich the curriculum, stimulate growth, and challenge students in their research, study, and lifelong learning. Ensures the effective use of information and empowers students to be<br>
critical thinkers, readers, skillful researchers, effective communicators, and ethical users of information. Collaborates with classroom educators to design and implement lessons and units of instruction and assesses student learning and instructional effectiveness to ensure essential skills integration. Provides the leadership and expertise necessary to ensure that the school library program is aligned with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school and the school district, and is an integral component of the learning/instructional program.<br>

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:<br>
<ul><li>A bachelor&rsquo;s degree from an accredited institution with teaching certification</li><li>A graduate degree earned at a college or university whose program is recognized by appropriate bodies such as The American Library Association (ALA), the American Association of School Librarians (AASL), Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), or state education agencies (CDE)</li></ul><br>

Responsibilities:</b></h2><div>
Process returned materials such as books, textbooks, and other resources</div><div><br>
Collaborates and co-teaches with classroom educators to establish learning objectives and assessment strategies to develop individual and group inquiry-based learning experiences</div><div><br>
Evaluates, introduces, and models emerging technologies for the learning community, and uses technology tools to supplement school resources</div><div><br>
Perform necessary record-keeping for all library resources, including a full inventory of all resources no less than every two years</div><div><br>
Supports learners as they make meaning for themselves to create new knowledge by collecting, organizing, and sharing resources of personal relevance</div><div><br>
Follow the DCSD media policy and board policies pertaining to the library</div><div><br>
Empowers learners to work with each other in successful collaborations and to constructively assess their own work and the work of their peers</div><div><br>
Organize and reshelve returned items</div><div><br>
Develops and maintains a teaching and learning environment that is fun, inviting, safe, flexible, collaborative, inclusive, equitable, and conducive to learning</div><div><br>
Participates as an active leader of the local and global learning community, building relationships with organizations and stakeholders</div><div><br>
Manage training, scheduling, and supervising of student assistants/aides and community volunteers in the LMC</div><div><br>
Addresses broader educational issues with other individuals in the building, at the district level, and at the professional association level</div><div><br>
Perform routine tasks such as answering phone calls, maintain a clean and organized library environment, and other necessary tasks</div><div><br>
Models and champions digital citizenship and safety and adherence to copyright and fair use requirements</div><div><br>
Manage loans between DCSD school libraries (ILL loans)</div><div><br>
Champions equity, access, and intellectual freedom for users within the physical space and beyond, including providing 24/7 access to the online library catalog; digital and audio books; and various digital information resources</div><div><br>
Attend District trainings pertaining to the library: Destiny, databases and digital resources, collection development, weeding, purchasing, etc.</div><div><br>
Perform other library related duties as assigned or requested</div><div><br>
Help plan and participate in special library events (district-wide events and school specific events)</div><div><br>
Teaches all members of the learning community to engage with and use information in a global society</div><div><br>
Maintain and repair library materials</div><div><br>
Fosters exploration, discovery, creation, and innovation in a growth mindset</div><div>
Loan library materials such as books, textbooks, and other resources to students, staff, and other DCSD patrons</div><div><br>
Empowers all members of the learning community to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, curators, and ethical users of information</div><div><br>
Manages the staff, budget, and the physical and virtual spaces of the school library</div><div><br>
Schedule and support activities for the library program which may include author days, reading promotions and incentives, and school-wide literacy activities</div><div><br>

Manage and catalog materials using resource management software (Destiny)</div><div><br>
