Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will support various accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping and compliance with established standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in corporate and governmental accounting while working with cutting-edge financial software and tools.Duties<ul><li>Perform data entry and account analysis to maintain accurate records within accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft</li><li>Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections</li><li>Reconcile general ledger accounts and balance sheets regularly to ensure accuracy and completeness</li><li>Prepare journal entries, conduct account reconciliation, and support month-end closing activities in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)</li><li>Support payroll management tasks using systems like ADP, UltiPro, Kronos, Ceridian, or Paychex, including payroll processing and tax experience</li><li>Conduct financial statement analysis, including balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis for internal reporting</li><li>Assist with audit preparations by organizing documentation related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls, governmental accounting standards, and other regulatory requirements</li><li>Contribute to budgeting activities and provide insights for financial planning efforts</li><li>Maintain meticulous records of financial transactions, ensuring adherence to internal controls and data security protocols</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles with familiarity in double entry bookkeeping and 10 key typing skills</li><li>Strong knowledge of financial concepts such as debits &amp; credits, journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, and account reconciliation</li><li>Experience working with various accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or similar platforms</li><li>Familiarity with payroll systems like ADP or UltiPro and payroll management procedures</li><li>Knowledge of GAAP standards and governmental accounting practices is preferred</li><li>Ability to analyze financial data accurately and perform detailed account analysis</li><li>Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently</li><li>Strong math skills combined with a solid understanding of financial services concepts</li><li>Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments and supporting audit processes</li></ul>Join us as an Accounting Assistant to play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of our financial operations.
