Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. Duties
- Perform data entry and account analysis to maintain accurate records within accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and balance sheets regularly to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Prepare journal entries, conduct account reconciliation, and support month-end closing activities in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Support payroll management tasks using systems like ADP, UltiPro, Kronos, Ceridian, or Paychex, including payroll processing and tax experience
- Conduct financial statement analysis, including balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis for internal reporting
- Assist with audit preparations by organizing documentation related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls, governmental accounting standards, and other regulatory requirements
- Contribute to budgeting activities and provide insights for financial planning efforts
- Maintain meticulous records of financial transactions, ensuring adherence to internal controls and data security protocols
Qualifications
- Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles with familiarity in double entry bookkeeping and 10 key typing skills
- Strong knowledge of financial concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, and account reconciliation
- Experience working with various accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft or similar platforms
- Familiarity with payroll systems like ADP or UltiPro and payroll management procedures
- Knowledge of GAAP standards and governmental accounting practices is preferred
- Ability to analyze financial data accurately and perform detailed account analysis
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently
- Strong math skills combined with a solid understanding of financial services concepts
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across departments and supporting audit processes
