Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Substitute Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring that students continue to engage with the curriculum in the absence of their regular teacher. This role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and a passion for fostering student growth and development.Responsibilities<ul><li>Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to ensure continuity of instruction.</li><li>Manage classroom behavior and maintain a productive learning environment.</li><li>Facilitate student engagement through effective teaching methods and strategies.</li><li>Adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with special education requirements.</li><li>Provide support in areas such as literacy education, math, and early childhood education.</li><li>Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.</li><li>Supervise students during various school activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.</li><li>Assist with curriculum development and lesson planning as needed.</li></ul>Experience<ul><li>Previous experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is preferred.</li><li>Familiarity with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies.</li><li>Experience in special education or working with students with autism is a plus.</li><li>Knowledge of early childhood development principles and practices is beneficial.</li><li>Background in tutoring or private school experience is advantageous.</li><li>Understanding of Montessori methods or preschool education is desirable.</li><li>Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with students and staff. Ideal candidates will have a deep understanding and background in teaching, possess a passion for working with Special Education students, and keeping updated records and state compliances documents. The candidate will know how to contribute positively and constructively to a strong faculty team. Responsibilities are to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Work is performed under the supervision of the Principal/CEO and the Chief Academy Officer. . Due to the small size of the school, a team-based approach and balancing multiple duties as assigned by the school administration is critical to success in this position.Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:o Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.o Develops schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established procedures.o Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.o Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.o Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.o Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.o Provide appropriate feedback on work.o Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.o Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.o Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations.o Prepare required reports on students and activities.o Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings.o Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and studento needs.o Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.o Prepare classroom for class activities.o Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.o Observe and evaluate student's performance and development.o Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments.Signing Bonus Available for Applicants with a NC Teacher's Certification or with the ability to receive certification within the first year of teaching!Interested applicants should submit a resume, copy of teaching certification or credential, and email/telephone contact for three professional references.
