The incumbent should ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications. The incumbent must also possess an understanding of basic issues associated with developing engineering packages/construction documentation for the assigned project.Essential Functions:1. Design of engineered systems of medium size and complexity. Activities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:<ul><li>Preliminary design and budgetary estimate.</li><li>Detailed design and estimates.</li><li>Equipment specification and inventory.</li><li>Engineering calculations to assure safety and performance of equipment and systems using Pole Foreman or another design tool.</li><li>Possible field visits and other data to accomplish the design.</li><li>Checking completed job for adequacy of design and documentation</li></ul>2. Monitor the project construction activities to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. Activities may include, but not be limited to, the following:<ul><li>Interpret plans and specifications and apply available information to ensure that all project design requirements are satisfied.</li><li>Maintain familiarity with appropriate engineering and construction codes and ensure compliance with all codes.</li><li>Prepare and/or monitor construction schedules to ensure timely completion of the work.</li><li>Institute and direct changes to the work when required by differing site conditions.</li><li>Conduct on-site design or investigation work to ensure the adequacy of the contractor&rsquo;s methods.</li></ul>3. Serve as project designer or project manager on assigned projects.4. Promote efficient flow of information and ensure complete and accurate record keeping.5. Be familiar with the Client/Company&rsquo;s drawing system, design and construction standards, and applicable industry codes and practices.6. Work independently based on general instructions, directions, or objectives from the Project Manager or Supervisor.7. Provide direct supervision, when needed, to staff designers and technicians.8. Must possess good technical design/planning skills and computer and financial/project management skills.9. Able to analyze results and develop conclusions on problems.10. Maintain a personal study program to expand and improve technical and analytical skills.11. Keep supervision informed of the status of all projects relative to pre-established expectations.12. Able to work independently and with others while maintaining high initiative and self-motivation.13. Interpret plans and specifications and apply available information to satisfy all project design requirements.14. Maintain familiarity with appropriate engineering and construction codes and ensure compliance with all codes.Position Requirements:<ul><li>Associate degree or relevant work experience</li><li>3 - 5 years of experience in engineering of related projects.</li><li>Strong understanding and knowledge of industry and national codes and standards, including but not limited to NESC and IEEE.</li><li>Experience with system design software, CADD, and Microsoft Office products required.
