Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities. This role involves assisting clients in their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse populations and a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve.Responsibilities<ul><li>Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.</li><li>Provide patient care and support in a group home or assisted living setting.</li><li>Monitor and document clients' health status, including vital signs and any changes in behavior or condition.</li><li>Implement care plans tailored to each individual's needs, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations.</li><li>Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and skill development.</li><li>Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties.</li><li>Assist with medication administration as required, ensuring proper documentation is maintained.</li><li>Provide support during transportation to appointments or community outings.</li><li>Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and social workers to ensure comprehensive care.</li></ul>Requirements<ul><li>Experience working with people with developmental disabilities, autism, or related conditions is preferred.</li><li>Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.</li><li>Previous experience in home health care, hospice care, nursing homes, or long-term care settings is an asset.</li><li>Strong patient observation skills with the ability to monitor changes in behavior or health status.</li><li>Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients using mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.</li><li>Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.</li><li>A compassionate approach to caregiving with a focus on enhancing the dignity and independence of individuals served.</li><li>Understanding of memory care practices for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease is beneficial.
