Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities. This role involves assisting clients in their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide patient care and support in a group home or assisted living setting.
- Monitor and document clients' health status, including vital signs and any changes in behavior or condition.
- Implement care plans tailored to each individual's needs, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and skill development.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Assist with medication administration as required, ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
- Provide support during transportation to appointments or community outings.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and social workers to ensure comprehensive care.
Requirements
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities, autism, or related conditions is preferred.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in home health care, hospice care, nursing homes, or long-term care settings is an asset.
- Strong patient observation skills with the ability to monitor changes in behavior or health status.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients using mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- A compassionate approach to caregiving with a focus on enhancing the dignity and independence of individuals served.
- Understanding of memory care practices for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease is beneficial. Job Type: Contract
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
