Direct Support Professional for Developmentally Disabled Individuals

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities. This role involves assisting clients in their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
• Provide patient care and support in a group home or assisted living setting.
• Monitor and document clients' health status, including vital signs and any changes in behavior or condition.
• Implement care plans tailored to each individual's needs, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations.
• Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and skill development.
• Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
• Assist with medication administration as required, ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
• Provide support during transportation to appointments or community outings.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and social workers to ensure comprehensive care.

Requirements

• Experience working with people with developmental disabilities, autism, or related conditions is preferred.
• Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable.
• Previous experience in home health care, hospice care, nursing homes, or long-term care settings is an asset.
• Strong patient observation skills with the ability to monitor changes in behavior or health status.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients using mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
• A compassionate approach to caregiving with a focus on enhancing the dignity and independence of individuals served.
• Understanding of memory care practices for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease is beneficial. Job Type: Contract

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
