Location: Grand Haven, MI (On-site) &middot; Minor local travel (West Michigan) &middot; Occasional WFH for documentation/personal needsEmployment type: Full-timeSummaryOwn the technical decisions and delivery for 2&ndash;3 client projects (concept &rarr; kickoff), mentor engineers, and strengthen standards&mdash;while keeping ~70% billable utilization and meaningful hands-on work (~30&ndash;50% CAD/analysis/build).Responsibilities<ul><li>Lead mechanical product development decisions; drive trade-offs and risk mitigation.</li><li>Coordinate schedule/budget impacts with the PM; keep clients informed with clear, concise updates.</li><li>Build broader SOPs and review practices (DFM/DFA, GD&amp;T/tolerance analysis, drawing standards).</li><li>Execute hands-on design: PTC Creo 8,9,10 surface modeling (bonus); complex assemblies/family tables (bonus).</li><li>Review FEA setups/results (Ansys) for boundary conditions, assumptions, and validation.</li><li>Mentor early-career engineers; run peer reviews; raise decision quality across the team.</li><li>Collaborate cross-discipline with ID/EE/manufacturing; use shop resources (3D printers, test rigs, measurement tools, tensile tester, and standard tools).</li></ul>Required Qualifications<ul><li>BS in Mechanical Engineering; 8+ years in mechanical product development (medical / furniture / consumer preferred).</li><li>PTC Creo 8&ndash;10 (must), with strength in multiple areas.</li><li>GD&amp;T and tolerance stack analysis (must); familiarity with ASME Y14.5.</li><li>Strong decision-making, follow-through, communication (written/verbal).</li><li>Portfolio demonstrating CAD, drawings (GD&amp;T), stacks, FEA summaries, DFM, and prototypes/tests.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Windchill PDM</li><li>Ansys hands-on</li><li>complex assemblies/family tables</li><li>DOE/test methods</li><li>Verification &amp; Validation experience</li><li>PE/MS</li></ul>Compensation &amp; Benefits<ul><li>Competitive base aligned to experience and impact + discretionary bonus.</li><li>SIMPLE IRA (3% match); health/dental/vision; 10 holidays + 15 PTO.</li><li>Limited relocation assistance for the ideal candidate.</li></ul>Work Authorization<ul><li>US work authorization required; visa sponsorship not planned.</li></ul>Hiring Process<ul><li>Screening call</li><li>On-site overview (4&ndash;5 hours)</li><li>Online assessment</li><li>On-site deep technical interview (5&ndash;6 hours) with portfolio walkthrough; may include whiteboard exercises.</li></ul>Equal Opportunity EmployerEsox Engineering is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
