Summary
Own the technical decisions and delivery for 2–3 client projects (concept → kickoff), mentor engineers, and strengthen standards—while keeping ~70% billable utilization and meaningful hands-on work (~30–50% CAD/analysis/build).
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical product development decisions; drive trade-offs and risk mitigation.
- Coordinate schedule/budget impacts with the PM; keep clients informed with clear, concise updates.
- Build broader SOPs and review practices (DFM/DFA, GD&T/tolerance analysis, drawing standards).
- Execute hands-on design: PTC Creo 8,9,10 surface modeling (bonus); complex assemblies/family tables (bonus).
- Review FEA setups/results (Ansys) for boundary conditions, assumptions, and validation.
- Mentor early-career engineers; run peer reviews; raise decision quality across the team.
- Collaborate cross-discipline with ID/EE/manufacturing; use shop resources (3D printers, test rigs, measurement tools, tensile tester, and standard tools).
Required Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering; 8+ years in mechanical product development (medical / furniture / consumer preferred).
- PTC Creo 8–10 (must), with strength in multiple areas.
- GD&T and tolerance stack analysis (must); familiarity with ASME Y14.5.
- Strong decision-making, follow-through, communication (written/verbal).
- Portfolio demonstrating CAD, drawings (GD&T), stacks, FEA summaries, DFM, and prototypes/tests.
