Mechanical Engineer &mdash; Large-Scale SystemsLocation: Orlando, FLRole OverviewAn experienced Mechanical Engineer is sought to support the design, development, and delivery of complex, large-scale mechanical systems. This role focuses on full lifecycle engineering&mdash;from concept and analysis through installation, commissioning, and operational support&mdash;on highly integrated systems used in entertainment and industrial environments.You will serve as both a hands-on technical contributor and a project leader, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable, and high-performance mechanical solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesMechanical Design &amp; Engineering<ul><li>Design mechanical systems from the ground up, including structural analysis, stress and fatigue calculations, acceleration forces, load modeling, material selection, and tolerance studies</li><li>Perform failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), hazard analysis, and risk mitigation planning</li><li>Design systems in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes and industry standards</li><li>Analyze and optimize Class 1 safety-critical components to minimize single points of failure and enhance system redundancy</li><li>Develop pneumatic and hydraulic control systems and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues</li><li>Support mechanical system installation, commissioning, startup, and debugging</li></ul>System Documentation &amp; Technical Deliverables<ul><li>Produce detailed mechanical documentation, including:</li><li>Theory and description of operation</li><li>System configuration and design documentation</li><li>Acceptance and implementation test plans</li><li>Routine maintenance and job plans</li><li>Create mechanical drawings, assemblies, and installation procedures using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks</li></ul>Specialized System Knowledge<ul><li>Apply engineering principles related to guest-facing ride and attraction systems, including:</li><li>Acceleration and force limits</li><li>Reach envelopes and clearances</li><li>Ingress/egress considerations</li><li>Weight analysis</li><li>Emergency evacuation and worst-case failure scenarios</li></ul>Project Leadership &amp; Collaboration<ul><li>Serve as technical lead on system integration projects across entertainment and manufacturing sectors</li><li>Mentor and guide engineers, technicians, designers, and contractors</li><li>Lead smaller projects ($50K&ndash;$250K) as Project Manager, including:</li><li>Developing and executing implementation plans</li><li>Defining scope, schedules, and deliverables</li><li>Assigning work and managing deadlines</li><li>Tracking progress and managing scope changes</li><li>Managing purchasing, subcontractors, and cost control</li><li>Preparing cost estimates and change order proposals</li></ul>QualificationsEducation<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Mechanical Engineering</li></ul>Experience<ul><li>10+ years of experience in mechanical system design and analysis preferred</li><li>Strong background in:</li><li>Mechanical assemblies and integrated systems</li><li>Stress, fatigue, and acceleration analysis</li><li>Safety-critical mechanical design</li><li>Amusement ride safety standards (ASTM)</li><li>Proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks</li></ul>Core Competencies<ul><li>Strong understanding of contract documents and technical specifications</li><li>Ability to collect, analyze, and document field data accurately</li><li>Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills</li><li>Highly organized with strong planning and prioritization abilities</li><li>Customer-focused mindset with clear, effective written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Comfortable working in multidisciplinary engineering environments</li></ul>Technical Skills<ul><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications</li></ul>Travel<ul><li>Ability to travel up to 35%</li></ul>Physical Requirements<ul><li>Ability to see, hear, speak clearly, and distinguish colors</li><li>Manual dexterity and ability to lift, push, pull, climb, and work on or around equipment</li><li>Ability to drive and safely mount/dismount equipment</li></ul>Working Environment<ul><li>Combination of office, on-site, and industrial/construction environments</li><li>Frequent use of computers and standard office equipment</li><li>Exposure to varied field conditions depending on project phase</li></ul>Work Location: In person
