Mechanical Engineer — Large-Scale Systems
Location: Orlando, FL
Role Overview
An experienced Mechanical Engineer is sought to support the design, development, and delivery of complex, large-scale mechanical systems. This role focuses on full lifecycle engineering—from concept and analysis through installation, commissioning, and operational support—on highly integrated systems used in entertainment and industrial environments.
You will serve as both a hands-on technical contributor and a project leader, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable, and high-performance mechanical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Engineering
- Design mechanical systems from the ground up, including structural analysis, stress and fatigue calculations, acceleration forces, load modeling, material selection, and tolerance studies
- Perform failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), hazard analysis, and risk mitigation planning
- Design systems in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes and industry standards
- Analyze and optimize Class 1 safety-critical components to minimize single points of failure and enhance system redundancy
- Develop pneumatic and hydraulic control systems and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues
- Support mechanical system installation, commissioning, startup, and debugging
System Documentation & Technical Deliverables
- Produce detailed mechanical documentation, including:
- Theory and description of operation
- System configuration and design documentation
- Acceptance and implementation test plans
- Routine maintenance and job plans
- Create mechanical drawings, assemblies, and installation procedures using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks
Specialized System Knowledge
- Apply engineering principles related to guest-facing ride and attraction systems, including:
- Acceleration and force limits
- Reach envelopes and clearances
- Ingress/egress considerations
- Weight analysis
- Emergency evacuation and worst-case failure scenarios
Project Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as technical lead on system integration projects across entertainment and manufacturing sectors
- Mentor and guide engineers, technicians, designers, and contractors
- Lead smaller projects ($50K–$250K) as Project Manager, including:
- Developing and executing implementation plans
- Defining scope, schedules, and deliverables
- Assigning work and managing deadlines
- Tracking progress and managing scope changes
- Managing purchasing, subcontractors, and cost control
- Preparing cost estimates and change order proposals
