As we continue to grow, we are strengthening our internal systems to ensure financial transparency, compliance, and sustainability.Position OverviewGirls Ment To Be is seeking a Volunteer Finance &amp; Accounting Advisor to support the organization&rsquo;s Board Treasurer and CEO with financial oversight, accounting guidance, and nonprofit compliance.This is an advisory, non-board role ideal for an accounting or finance professional looking to give back, gain nonprofit experience, or provide pro bono support to a mission-driven organization.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting &amp; Financial Oversight<ul><li>Review monthly income and expense reports</li><li>Support accurate categorization of donations, grants, and program expenses</li><li>Assist with bookkeeping system setup or review (e.g., QuickBooks, Wave)</li><li>Flag discrepancies or potential compliance concerns</li></ul>Taxes &amp; Compliance<ul><li>Support preparation and review of annual IRS Form 990 / 990-EZ</li><li>Help ensure state and federal nonprofit compliance</li><li>Coordinate with an external CPA if applicable</li></ul>Budgeting &amp; Planning<ul><li>Assist with annual program and operating budgets</li><li>Support budgeting for events, workshops, and fundraising initiatives</li><li>Help forecast cash flow and financial sustainability</li></ul>Board &amp; Leadership Support<ul><li>Prepare simple financial summaries for board meetings</li><li>Serve as a resource to the Board Treasurer for financial questions</li><li>Advise on internal controls and best practices (without handling funds)</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Background in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or financial management</li><li>CPA, accountant, finance professional, or experienced bookkeeper preferred</li><li>Familiarity with nonprofit finance or willingness to learn</li><li>Strong attention to detail and integrity</li><li>Comfortable working collaboratively with board leadership</li></ul>Time Commitment<ul><li>Approximately 2&ndash;4 hours per month</li><li>Flexible schedule</li><li>Additional time may be requested during tax season or audits (optional)</li></ul>What This Role Is NOT<ul><li>This role does not involve signing checks or handling funds</li><li>This role does not replace the Board Treasurer</li><li>This role is advisory and supportive in nature</li></ul>Why Volunteer With Girls Ment To Be<ul><li>Make a meaningful impact on girls in the community</li><li>Use your professional skills for social good</li><li>Flexible, low-hour commitment</li><li>Opportunity to grow into a future Board Treasurer or Finance Committee role (if mutually desired)</li></ul>Job Type: Part-timeJob Type: Part-timeWork Location: Hybrid remote in Jackson, MS 39213
