Position Summary:The Communications Specialist leads GIG and GIG Cares&rsquo;s storytelling for consumer audiences, crafting clear, engaging, and trust-building content across digital and print platforms. This role turns education into connection, shaping messages that empower gluten-free consumers while amplifying GIG&rsquo;s mission and impact.Duties and Responsibilities include the following:Core Functions<ul><li>Create and manage content for GIG&rsquo;s print, digital, and social platforms from idea to publication.</li><li>Lead editorial quality and brand voice, ensuring consistency, clarity, and accuracy across all communications.</li><li>Plan and execute the editorial calendar, aligning consumer content, educational messaging, and marketing initiatives.</li></ul>Supporting Functions<ul><li>Collaborate across teams including education, marketing, and outreach to synchronize messaging and strengthen campaign impact.</li><li>Research, write, and edit content that meets consumer needs and advances GIG&rsquo;s mission.</li><li>Mentor staff and guide outreach projects, fostering better communication and storytelling organization-wide.</li><li>Gather and share community stories that highlight real experiences and elevate brand authenticity.</li></ul>Strategic Add-Ons<ul><li>Provide communication strategy input to the Executive Operations Team and marketing leads.</li><li>Contribute to virtual events and video projects, ensuring cohesive messaging across formats.</li><li>Recommend emerging technologies and new platforms to expand reach and engagement.</li><li>Refine internal communication processes, style guides, and editorial procedures for long-term efficiency.</li></ul>Expectations:Embrace GIG&rsquo;s Core values and mission.GIG is a diverse team of dedicated individuals&hellip;&middot; Who seek to become people of transparent honesty, &middot; Who put forth maximum effort in the pursuit of excellence, &middot; Who strive to passionately serve those who choose to live gluten-free, and &middot; Who work collaboratively because we value the contribution of one another.GIG&rsquo;s mission: &ldquo;Making life easier for everyone living gluten-free.&rdquo;Supervisory Responsibilities: &middot; NoneEducation/Experience:&middot; BS in Marketing, English, Journalism or related field. &middot; Minimum 5 years work experience in consumer writing, social media, and customer service. &middot; Proven work experience as a content writer, copywriter, similar role. &middot; Experience doing research using multiple sources.Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:&middot; Strong understanding of consumer psychology and engagement funnels. &middot; Experience analyzing consumer content performance metrics to guide strategy. &middot; Skilled in crafting emotionally intelligent messaging that drives trust and loyalty. &middot; Familiarity with web publications. &middot; Excellent writing and editing skills in English. &middot; Hands-on experience social media platforms. &middot; Ability to meet deadlines. &middot; Familiarity with celiac disease and/or the gluten-free diet preferred. &middot; Analytic and decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize and communicate to staff key to achieve tasks. &middot; Commitment to quality work. &middot; Good written and verbal communication skills. &middot; Good judgment and problem-solving skills. &middot; Entrepreneurial team player who can multitask with accuracy. &middot; Self-reliant, good problem solver and results oriented. &middot; Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team member who can positively and productively impact program goals. &middot; Ability to operate as an effective strategic thinker. &middot; Competent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
