Schedule: 3&ndash;6 hrs/week- Must be available on weekday afternoons Grades: 6-8 Start: January 2026 Location: In-person at our Yorba Linda CampusPosition OverviewGolden Sunshine Academy Yorba Linda seeks a passionate, experienced English Language Arts (ELA) teacher to design and teach small-group Reading &amp; Writing classes for upper elementary and middle school students. You&rsquo;ll build a practical, standards-aligned syllabus and deliver engaging after-school lessons that strengthen reading, writing, and speaking skills.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Teach: Lead interactive small-group classes on-site (3&ndash;6 hrs/week).</li><li>Plan: Create a semester syllabus, lesson plans, and materials.</li><li>Differentiate: Support mixed-ability learners and maintain strong classroom management.</li><li>Assess: Provide clear, actionable feedback and track progress.</li><li>Partner: Communicate updates to families and staff.</li></ul>Core Skills You&rsquo;ll Build in Students (academically framed)<ul><li>Close Reading &amp; Textual Analysis (theme, structure, evidence, author&rsquo;s craft)</li><li>Composition: Narrative, Expository/Informational, and Argumentative writing</li><li>Research &amp; Conventions: Source use, citation basics (e.g., MLA), revision &amp; editing</li><li>Language: Vocabulary development, grammar-in-context, sentence combining</li><li>Speaking &amp; Presentation: Organization, delivery, and visual support</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s in English, Education, Journalism, or related field (required)</li><li>1+ year English/ ELA teaching/tutoring experience (grades 6-8 - middle school)</li><li>Lesson-planning &amp; materials-creation experience</li><li>Strong classroom management &amp; communication</li><li>Available to teach in person in Anaheim</li></ul>Preferred: CA teaching credential; middle school ELA experience; PBL; experience with diverse learners (e.g., ELD/ELL, GATE).What We Offer<ul><li>Competitive hourly pay</li><li>Small classes and a supportive team</li><li>Autonomy to shape a high-impact program</li></ul>Job Type: Part-timePay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hourExpected hours: 3 &ndash; 6 per weekWork Location: In person
