Position SummaryThe Part‑Time Bookkeeper supports the affiliate&rsquo;s financial operations by maintaining accurate accounting records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with Habitat for Humanity standards, GAAP principles, and state and federal regulations. This role is well‑suited for a detail‑oriented professional who thrives in a mission‑driven environment and can manage financial tasks with accuracy, confidentiality, and consistency.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting &amp; Financial Management<ul><li>Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date financial records using QuickBooks Online.</li><li>Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor invoices, reimbursements, and donor payments.</li><li>Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and petty cash on a monthly basis.</li><li>Prepare and record journal entries, including payroll allocations, depreciation, and adjustments.</li><li>Track restricted and unrestricted funds in accordance with donor intent and grant requirements.</li><li>Support the Executive Director/Treasurer in preparing monthly financial statements</li></ul>Payroll &amp; HR Support<ul><li>Coordinate payroll processing with PayChex.</li><li>Maintain employee records related to payroll, benefits, and timekeeping.</li></ul>Donor &amp; Grant Tracking<ul><li>Record donations and generate donor receipts in alignment with Habitat for Humanity and IRS guidelines.</li><li>Assist with grant applications and reporting by tracking expenditures and preparing required financial documentation.</li></ul>Compliance &amp; Audit Support<ul><li>Maintain organized financial files and documentation to ensure audit readiness.</li><li>Assist with the annual audit or financial review by preparing reports and supporting materials.</li><li>Ensure adherence to Habitat for Humanity financial policies, internal controls, and New York State nonprofit requirements.</li></ul>Administrative &amp; Operational Support<ul><li>Support the Executive Director with budget preparation and financial forecasting.</li><li>Provide financial insights to program staff as needed.</li><li>Assist with ReStore financial reporting processes.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Associate&rsquo;s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field; equivalent experience considered.</li><li>Minimum 2&ndash;3 years of bookkeeping or nonprofit accounting experience preferred.</li><li>Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office Suite.</li><li>Familiarity with donor management systems (e.g., Bloomerang, Salesforce, Greater Giving, etc.) is a plus.</li><li>General understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.</li><li>Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.</li><li>Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.</li><li>Commitment to Habitat for Humanity&rsquo;s mission and values.</li></ul>Work Environment &amp; Schedule<ul><li>Part‑time position with flexible scheduling (20&ndash;30 hours per week).</li><li>Hybrid or on‑site work options depending on affiliate needs.</li><li>Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for meetings or events.</li></ul>Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hourWork Location: Hybrid remote in Fort Edward, NY 12828
