Job Overview North County EEMS is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Dispatchers to coordinate emergency medical services efficiently and effectively. This vital role involves managing emergency calls, dispatching ambulance units, and ensuring rapid response times to critical situations. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, the ability to handle high-pressure situations, and familiarity with emergency medical protocols. Prior EMT experience and proficiency with two-way radio systems and GPS systems are highly desirable to facilitate accurate location tracking and efficient dispatching. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to community safety while working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Duties<ul><li>Receive and triage emergency calls using multi-line phone systems with professionalism and empathy, adhering to phone etiquette standards.</li><li>Gather critical information, including medical details, location specifics, and incident nature, utilizing strong communication skills and medical terminology knowledge.</li><li>Utilize GIS and GPS technology to accurately locate incident sites and dispatch appropriate EMS units promptly.</li><li>Coordinate ambulance deployment by analyzing real-time data, traffic conditions, and resource availability to ensure rapid response times.</li><li>Maintain detailed records of all communications through data entry, transcription, and documentation of incidents for legal and operational purposes.</li><li>Manage conflict resolution and conflict management during high-stress situations or difficult callers with professionalism.</li><li>Collaborate with law enforcement or other emergency services when necessary, ensuring seamless coordination across agencies.</li><li>Monitor the status of dispatched units, providing updates as needed while managing multiple calls simultaneously on multi-line phone systems.</li><li>Perform ongoing analysis of dispatch operations to identify areas for improvement in efficiency or service quality.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Prior EMT experience is preferred; familiarity with emergency medical procedures is highly advantageous.</li><li>Strong knowledge of radio systems, GPS technology, and mapping systems for accurate location tracking.</li><li>Experience with phone triage, law enforcement coordination, and conflict management in emergency settings.</li><li>Excellent communication skills, including clear verbal expression and active listening abilities.</li><li>Proficiency in typing, data entry, transcription, and maintaining detailed records under pressure.</li><li>Knowledge of medical terminology and first aid procedures relevant to emergency response scenarios.</li><li>Ability to handle high-stress situations calmly while demonstrating professionalism and empathy.</li><li>Strong analysis skills for assessing incident details quickly and making informed dispatch decisions.</li><li>Experience operating multi-line phone systems in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
