Job Overview
North County EEMS is seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Dispatchers to coordinate emergency medical services efficiently and effectively. Duties
- Receive and triage emergency calls using multi-line phone systems with professionalism and empathy, adhering to phone etiquette standards.
- Gather critical information, including medical details, location specifics, and incident nature, utilizing strong communication skills and medical terminology knowledge.
- Utilize GIS and GPS technology to accurately locate incident sites and dispatch appropriate EMS units promptly.
- Coordinate ambulance deployment by analyzing real-time data, traffic conditions, and resource availability to ensure rapid response times.
- Maintain detailed records of all communications through data entry, transcription, and documentation of incidents for legal and operational purposes.
- Manage conflict resolution and conflict management during high-stress situations or difficult callers with professionalism.
- Collaborate with law enforcement or other emergency services when necessary, ensuring seamless coordination across agencies.
- Monitor the status of dispatched units, providing updates as needed while managing multiple calls simultaneously on multi-line phone systems.
- Perform ongoing analysis of dispatch operations to identify areas for improvement in efficiency or service quality.
Qualifications
- Prior EMT experience is preferred; familiarity with emergency medical procedures is highly advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of radio systems, GPS technology, and mapping systems for accurate location tracking.
- Experience with phone triage, law enforcement coordination, and conflict management in emergency settings.
- Excellent communication skills, including clear verbal expression and active listening abilities.
- Proficiency in typing, data entry, transcription, and maintaining detailed records under pressure.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and first aid procedures relevant to emergency response scenarios.
- Ability to handle high-stress situations calmly while demonstrating professionalism and empathy.
- Strong analysis skills for assessing incident details quickly and making informed dispatch decisions.
- Experience operating multi-line phone systems in a fast-paced environment is preferred. This role is essential in ensuring timely medical assistance during emergencies while supporting community health initiatives through effective dispatching practices.
