SUMMARY:
The Commissioning Engineer supports the planning, execution, and documentation of commissioning activities to ensure electrical systems meet project requirements, safety standards, and industry codes. This role is responsible for tracking inspections, maintaining accurate documentation, and coordinating with technicians, subcontractors, vendors, and testing agencies. The Commissioning Engineer plays a key role in documenting and verifying testing activities, uploading reports into commissioning software, and ensuring that all commissioning milestones are completed accurately and on schedule. The ideal candidate combines technical knowledge of electrical systems with strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills to support project delivery and quality objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
<ul><li> Maintain and manage QC/QA/CX documentation, including inspection records, NCRs, reports, and pre-energization checklists</li></ul>
<ul><li> Track quality activities and testing progress in CX Alloy, ensuring all required information is uploaded, updated, and accurate</li></ul>
<ul><li> Review NETA reports, upload results into CX Alloy, and follow up with testers to confirm completion</li></ul>
<ul><li> Monitor open issues and NCRs, track resolutions, and communicate status updates to project teams</li></ul>
<ul><li> Support scheduling and coordination of QC/QA/CX technicians and external testers</li></ul>
<ul><li> Prepare daily and weekly quality reports, summaries, and root cause analyses for leadership review</li></ul>
<ul><li> Ensure proper labeling, document control, and version management for all project quality files</li></ul> 

<ul><li> Provide administrative support for inspections (2.1, 2.2) by logging, tracking, and distributing documentation</li></ul>
<ul><li> Communicate quality control requirements and documentation needs to internal teams, vendors, and subcontractors</li></ul>
<ul><li> Assist with training coordination and documentation for QC/QA/CX staff and construction teams</li></ul>
<ul><li> Perform other duties as assigned</li></ul>

<ul><li> Planning &amp; Coordination: Help schedule technicians, inspections, and testing to keep commissioning on track</li></ul>
<ul><li> Problem Solving: Anticipate commissioning issues and support solutions that minimize delays and costs</li></ul>
<ul><li> Quality &amp; Safety Focus: Ensure all commissioning activities follow company standards, safety requirements, and industry codes</li></ul> 

REQUIRED EDUCATION &amp; EXPERIENCE:
<ul><li> NETA certification or direct experience managing/reviewing NETA test reports</li></ul>
<ul><li> Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud Build, Egnyte, or other commissioning/document control platforms</li></ul>
<ul><li> Previous internship, co-op, or project engineering experience in commissioning or electrical construction</li></ul>

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
<ul>
<li>Must be able to work in extreme indoor and outdoor environmental conditions (heat, cold, rain, sleet, snow)</li>
<li>Must be able to use construction-site sanitary facilities (e.g., portable toilets)</li>
<li>Must wear required personal protective equipment at all times on site (helmet, safety glasses, boots, and gloves at all times; respirator when required)</li>
<li>Must be able to safely climb and work from ladders and stairs</li>
<li>Must be able to safely operate typical jobsite equipment to access work areas (scissor lift, boom lift)</li>
</ul><ul><li>Must be able to crawl, stand, stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, sit, reach, and routinely lift, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds</li>
<li>Ability to travel between job sites and work extended or off-shift hours as project needs require</li>

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES &amp; SCOPE:
<ul>
<li>Close support of senior project management team.</li>
<li>Develop project teams while delivering quality output, meeting customer expectations, managing to scope, delivering on time, and delivering within budget.</li>
<li>Develop and support project management techniques and schedule goals, procurement and contractual requirements, personnel assignments, and capacity planning.</li>
<li>Evaluate and continually improve the systems and processes used by the department to effectively meet customer requirements and profitability goals with an emphasis on strong internal unit tracking methods.</li>
<li>Manage, mentor, and develop colleagues.</li>
<li>Ensure schedule requirements are met. Readily adjust priorities and milestones based upon changing customer needs, resource availability, and job requirements.</li>
<li>Interact with the customer to validate expectations are understood and met before, during, and after project completion.</li>
<li>Provide close support and oversight for third-party construction firms and subcontractors.</li>
<li>Manage project review process with particular emphasis on financial forecasting.</li>
<li>Ensure high-quality engineering, studies, and Helix project delivery.</li>
<li>Proactively and systematically communicate challenges, risks, and successes.</li>
<li>Oversee monthly invoicing process per project terms and negotiate appropriate change orders.</li>
<li>Coordination with Site Superintendent(s) to understand and assess installation methods, labor needs, and manpower forecasts.</li>
<li>Close support and oversight on adherence to the Quality Control process.</li>
<li>Close support to ensure that all downstream team members are meeting deadlines on assigned tasks.</li>
</ul>
QUALIFICATIONS:
<ul>
<li>Minimum 3 years of project engineer experience in heavy commercial/private electrical construction.</li>
<li>Understand engineering in electric power.</li>
<li>Field experience coordinating with construction management.</li>
<li>Extensive knowledge of project scheduling, bids, take-offs, change orders and contracts.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to develop relationships and assist in winning projects.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to closely support the running of a profitable portfolio.</li>
<li>Exceptional initiative, execution, and communication skills, both oral and written.</li>
<li>Exceptional analytical, motivational, and leadership skills.</li>
<li>Electrical Engineering or Construction Management degrees are strongly preferred.</li>
<li>Journeyman or Master Electrician's license a plus.</li>
