Mechanical Contractor specializing in HVAC construction, installation and maintenance for the NY Tri-State area is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of a HVAC Service Technician with 5+ years of experience in the NYC Metro Area. We are a Local 638B Union Shop. All wages are based on the Metal Trades Branch Wage Rates.HVAC Technician Responsibilities:<ul><li>Installing, maintaining and repairing HVAC systems and equipment to meet specifications</li><li>Identifying maintenance risks on equipment</li><li>Testing and diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems</li><li>Cleaning, adjusting, and repairing systems, and performing warranty services</li><li>Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance</li><li>Determining causes of operating errors and deciding how to fix the problem</li><li>Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently</li><li>Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly</li><li>Providing technical direction to clients</li><li>Inputting daily logs and records of all maintenance functions in the system</li><li>Ensuring compliance with appliance standards and with the Occupational Health and Safety Act</li><li>Complying with service standards, work instructions and customers' requirements</li><li>Collaborate with sales and engineering to develop product definitions responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Valid Driver License (Motor Vehicle Report will be run to establish if candidate can operate a company vehicle)</li><li>Valid OSHA 30 &amp; SST, Fire watch, Certificate of fitness for torch operation, EPA 608 certification</li><li>VRF experience and ability to use a laptop and VRF service tools is a plus</li><li>Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating systems</li><li>Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Proficient in reading and understanding of electrical schematics and work plans.</li><li>Ability to work on-call emergencies</li></ul>The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to this classification. The Project Manager will report directly to the Director of Special Projects.Job Description<ul><li>Provide full turnkey solutions for mechanical contracting projects, managing all aspects of construction to meet customer needs and deliver comprehensive, customized solutions.</li><li>Oversee and ensure mechanical contracting projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and according to the defined scope of work.</li><li>Coordinate and manage subcontractors, engineers, architects, trades personnel, and in-house labor to ensure smooth and efficient project execution.</li><li>Procure HVAC, plumbing, and piping materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing and inventory management.</li><li>Conduct daily job site visits and inspections; collaborate with the Safety Director and Quality Control teams to ensure all safety standards and quality specifications are met.</li><li>Manage the sequencing of mechanical system installations, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping, ensuring coordination between different trades.</li><li>Prepare and manage project documentation including RFIs, schedules, proposals, and correspondence. Review subcontractor change orders and manage the resolution of any field-related issues.</li><li>Analyze cost and pricing data, perform bid evaluations, and assist in value engineering and cost control measures.</li><li>Assess site conditions and customer requirements to develop practical solutions, providing clear cost estimates and accurate schedule projections.</li><li>Negotiate with approved vendors, review material submittals, and approve project-related invoices for accuracy.</li><li>Provide exceptional customer service by maintaining regular communication with clients, addressing concerns, providing updates, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the entire project lifecycle.</li><li>Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships and ensuring that their expectations are met, and concerns are addressed in a timely manner.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Minimum 5 years of experience working in an HVAC/Mechanical contracting company.</li><li>Strong ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>Excellent negotiation skills, with experience in vendor management and cost control.</li><li>Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for clear and effective interaction with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.</li><li>Proficient in computer use and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).</li><li>Experience with Sage 100 (or similar accounting/software systems) is a plus.</li><li>Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team, maintaining a high level of attention to detail and quality.</li></ul>The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to this classification.
