If you&rsquo;re passionate about both, we&rsquo;d love to meet you.Job SummaryWe&rsquo;re hiring a Barista who can keep our caf&eacute; running smoothly, provide a warm and welcoming experience to our guests, and isn&rsquo;t afraid to chat about their favorite author while frothing milk. As a Barista, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality beverages, maintaining a clean and inviting environment, and ensuring customer satisfaction. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.You&rsquo;re a great fit if you:<ul><li>Are comfortable working independently and taking initiative</li><li>Enjoy engaging in casual conversations about books and authors</li><li>Are genuinely friendly, dependable, and customer-focused</li><li>Have previous barista or caf&eacute; experience (preferred but not required&mdash;we&rsquo;ll train the right book-loving person!)</li><li>Can multitask efficiently and keep the space clean and inviting</li><li>Are available to work [weekends/weekdays/flexible hours&mdash;adjust to your needs]</li></ul>Responsibilities<ul><li>Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages according to established recipes and standards.</li><li>Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately for both coffee and book transactions.</li><li>Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, including equipment and utensils.</li><li>Greet and assist customers with enthusiasm and a smile</li><li>Maintain a calm, welcoming vibe&mdash;even when there&rsquo;s a line</li><li>Help with bookstore tasks (like shelving or tidying)</li><li>Assist customers with menu selections, help find books, and provide knowledgeable coffee and book recommendations.</li><li>Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of hygiene.</li><li>Manage inventory levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies.</li><li>Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints in a professional manner.</li><li>Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Previous experience in food service or retail environment is preferred but not required.</li><li>Strong math skills for handling cash transactions and basic retail math.</li><li>Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively during busy periods.</li><li>Familiarity with coffee preparation techniques and equipment is a plus.</li><li>Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.</li><li>Strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.</li><li>Knowledge of food safety practices is essential.</li><li>A genuine desire to help customers enjoy their experience is crucial.</li></ul>Books.
