Job Summary

We’re hiring a Barista who can keep our café running smoothly, provide a warm and welcoming experience to our guests, and isn’t afraid to chat about their favorite author while frothing milk. As a Barista, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality beverages, maintaining a clean and inviting environment, and ensuring customer satisfaction. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages according to established recipes and standards.
• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately for both coffee and book transactions.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, including equipment and utensils.
• Greet and assist customers with enthusiasm and a smile
• Maintain a calm, welcoming vibe—even when there’s a line
• Help with bookstore tasks (like shelving or tidying)
• Assist customers with menu selections, help find books, and provide knowledgeable coffee and book recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of hygiene.
• Manage inventory levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies.
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints in a professional manner.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in food service or retail environment is preferred but not required.
• Strong math skills for handling cash transactions and basic retail math.
• Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively during busy periods.
• Familiarity with coffee preparation techniques and equipment is a plus.
• Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with customers and team members.
• Knowledge of food safety practices is essential.
• A genuine desire to help customers enjoy their experience is crucial.
