 Responsibilities
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Responsible for the care and preparation of surgical instruments and supplies in accordance with proper aseptic technique and principles of sterilization and instrument handling
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintains established inventory levels by checking supplies and equipment. Restocks, labels, and maintains inventory, submits requisitions, collects and distributes instruments, trays, crash carts, and facility medical equipment.
 </li>
 <li>
 Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment, and assembles, wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments. Follows proper Standard Precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.
 </li>
 <li>
 Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.
 </li>
 <li>
 Performs environmental maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, the operating room, and in equipment storage areas.
 </li>
 <li>
 Performs the appropriate testing of all sterilizers and keeps accurate records.
 </li>
 <li>
 Verifies that equipment functions properly, requisitions for equipment maintenance, repair or replacement, and removes defective equipment.
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Qualifications
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 High School graduate or equivalent.
 </li>
 <li>
 Instrument technician experience, 2 years or equivalent experience in hospital materials management department.
 </li>
 <li>
 Certified Sterile Processing diploma or ability to be certified within 8 months.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to work independently and demonstrate good judgment.
 </li>
 <li>
 Ability to communicate accurately and concisely.
 </li>
 <li>
 BLS (AHA or Red Cross) and evidence of a negative Tb test within the last 6 months
 
 
 </li>
