1. JOB PURPOSETo provide specialized, patient-centric, and evidence-based consultant-level psychiatric care. The role involves leading a multidisciplinary team (MDT) in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. The Consultant is responsible for ensuring compliance with the UAE&rsquo;s new Mental Health Law, particularly regarding patient rights, involuntary admission procedures, and ethical practice .2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESClinical Care<ul><li>Assessment &amp; Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including risk assessments for self-harm or harm to others, for a diverse population (including Emiratis and expatriates).</li><li>Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans integrating pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, and psychosocial rehabilitation.</li><li>Intervention: Manage complex cases including Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, and substance use disorders.</li><li>Admissions Management: Oversee voluntary and compulsory admissions strictly in accordance with Federal Law No. (10) of 2023. Ensure all documentation for &quot;Compulsory Admission for Evaluation&quot; or &quot;Compulsory Admission for Treatment&quot; is completed accurately and submitted to the local Oversight and Follow-up Committee within mandated timeframes (e.g., 6 working days) .</li><li>Ward Management: Conduct daily consultant-led ward rounds. Ensure the safe use of restrictive practices (physical restraint or isolation) only in emergencies and for the minimum duration required, per legal guidelines .</li><li>On-Call Duties: Participate in the on-call roster, providing 24/7 coverage for emergencies, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays .</li></ul>Legal &amp; Ethical Compliance (Crucial for UAE)<ul><li>Patient Rights: Ensure all patients receive the &quot;Patient Bill of Rights&quot; upon admission. Respect the patient&rsquo;s right to work; termination of employment based solely on a mental health condition requires a specialized medical committee report .</li><li>Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information, adhering to UAE Federal Law No. (2) of 2019 concerning the use of ICT in health fields.</li><li>Informed Consent: Obtain valid informed consent for all treatments. In cases where a patient lacks capacity, adhere strictly to the legal hierarchy of guardians/representatives defined in the law .</li></ul>Multidisciplinary &amp; Administrative<ul><li>Team Leadership: Lead and supervise a team comprising Specialist Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Registrars, Clinical Psychologists, Social Workers, and Psychiatric Nurses.</li><li>Collaboration: Liaise with primary care physicians, neurologists, and emergency departments to ensure continuity of care.</li><li>Medical Records: Ensure timely and accurate documentation using the facility&rsquo;s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system .</li><li>Quality Improvement: Participate in clinical audit, morbidity and mortality meetings, and JCI (Joint Commission International) or DOH (Department of Health) quality improvement activities .</li></ul>Job Types: Full-time, Part-timePay: AED40,000.00 - AED60,000.00 per monthExpected hours: 25.0 per weekWork Location: Remote
