Job Summary: Iowa Floor Care is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented General Cleaner to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the Kirkwood campus. This role plays an important part in supporting students, staff, and visitors by ensuring campus facilities are well cared for and presentable.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Routine Cleaning: Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.</li><li>Waste Management: Empty trash and recycling receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste materials.</li><li>Restroom Maintenance: Clean, sanitize, and restock restrooms to ensure cleanliness and adequate supplies at all times.</li><li>Cleaning Supplies Management: Monitor cleaning supply levels and notify a supervisor when restocking is needed.</li><li>Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when handling cleaning chemicals and operating equipment.</li><li>Equipment Care: Properly operate and maintain cleaning equipment according to training and safety standards.</li><li>Special Projects: Assist with special cleaning assignments, including deep cleaning during school breaks, events, or as needed.</li><li>Reporting Issues: Promptly report any maintenance, safety, or facility concerns to the appropriate supervisor or facilities manager.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent preferred.</li><li>Previous janitorial or cleaning experience is a plus but not required.</li><li>Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.</li><li>Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.</li></ul>Training:<ul><li>Orientation: New hires will participate in an orientation to become familiar with Kirkwood Community College policies, procedures, and expectations.</li><li>Safety Training: Training will be provided on proper chemical handling, equipment operation, and emergency procedures.</li><li>On-the-Job Training: Employees will shadow experienced staff to learn effective cleaning techniques and campus-specific protocols.</li></ul>Job Type: Full-timePay: From $15.00 per hourBenefits:<ul><li>401(k)</li><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Work Location: In person
