Job Summary: The Accounting Associate will work within our accounting team and handle accounting functions for a portion of the portfolio of company-owned properties. The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, and able to multitask, prioritize, and perform effectively under pressure.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:<ul><li>Deposit and post receivables</li><li>Prepare monthly delinquency reports and document weekly follow-up on outstanding balances</li><li>Make collection calls on outstanding receivables and report status updates to senior management</li><li>Assist with preparing and distributing monthly rent and annual escalation billings to tenants</li><li>Review accounts payable invoices for proper documentation and approval before payment</li><li>Code invoices to the appropriate general ledger account</li><li>Enter and upload invoices into the system</li><li>Process bi-monthly check runs</li><li>Verify that transactions are recorded accurately</li><li>Monitor recurring bills to keep accounts current</li><li>Track progress payments on contracts</li><li>Monitor cash balances and prepare balance reports for management</li><li>Maintain vendor insurance certificate and W-9 records</li><li>Compile, prepare, and distribute year-end 1099 forms</li><li>Communicate professionally with vendors and clients by phone and email</li><li>Support the accounting department with additional accounting and administrative tasks</li></ul>What we&rsquo;re looking for:<ul><li>Bilingual (English / Spanish)</li><li>Prior commercial real estate management experience</li><li>Experience with property management accounting software such as RealPage (preferred) or Yardi</li><li>Strong deadline management skills</li><li>High level of accuracy and attention to detail</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel</li><li>Demonstrated bookkeeping experience</li></ul>Job Type: Full-timePay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per yearBenefits:<ul><li>401(k)</li><li>401(k) matching</li><li>Dental insurance</li><li>Employee discount</li><li>Flexible spending account</li><li>Health insurance</li><li>Life insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Vision insurance</li></ul>Physical Setting:<ul><li>Office</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>Accounting: 3 years (Required)</li><li>Property management: 1 year (Preferred)</li></ul>Work Location: In person
