Position Overview:Brooks Surgery Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Per Diem Nurse to join our surgical team. This role requires flexibility and a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgery. The ideal candidate will be a team player with excellent clinical skills and attention to detail.Schedule: Every Thursday (per-diem), ~4&ndash;10 hours depending on case loadResponsibilities:<ul><li>Assist in pre-operative and post-operative patient care</li><li>Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and efficient workflows</li><li>Monitor vital signs and administer medications as needed</li><li>Maintain a sterile environment in compliance with surgical protocols</li><li>Receive PACU handoff; verify procedure, airway status, lines, drains, and orders.</li><li>Continuous monitoring (ECG, SpO&#8322;, NIBP, ETCO&#8322; when indicated); document per protocol.</li><li>Manage airway, oxygen therapy, nausea/vomiting, pain, and hemodynamics; titrate meds per orders/standing protocols.</li><li>Conduct Aldrete scoring and advance recovery phases (Phase I &rarr; Phase II &rarr; discharge).</li><li>Start/maintain IVs; administer IV/PO meds; manage fluid balance and glucose checks as ordered.</li><li>Perform patient/family education; complete discharge criteria and instructions; arrange escort verification.</li><li>Escalate changes in condition; initiate emergency response (code cart/defibrillator) when needed.</li><li>Complete EMR documentation, incident reporting, med reconciliation, and controlled-substance counts.</li><li>Maintain infection-prevention, medication safety, and HIPAA compliance.</li><li>Assist pre-op checks and room turn-over as needed.</li></ul>Requirements:&#9989; Valid nursing license &#9989; Experience in surgical or outpatient settings preferred &#9989; Strong communication and organizational skills &#9989; Availability for Thursdays and occasional Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays &#9989; Preferred but not required: Proficiency in Japanese or Mandarin, or experience in surgery center recovery and circulatingWhy Join Us?At Brooks Surgery Center, we take pride in fostering a collaborative and professional environment dedicated to excellence in surgical care.How to Apply:Call the office at (310) 860-9502 to inquire or submit your application.Pay: $52.04 - $65.00 per hourWork Location: In person
