Our team is mission-driven, and we're looking for someone who shares our commitment to quality care and doing right by the people we serve.Position SummaryThe HR Support Specialist is the engine behind our day-to-day HR operations. You will support a small but busy HR team and work with employees and managers across all of our programs. This role reports to the HR Director and plays a key part in keeping our people systems organized, accurate, and running smoothly.Key ResponsibilitiesEmployee Records &amp; Systems<ul><li>Maintain accurate employee records in BambooHR</li><li>Keep personnel files organized, complete, and up to date</li><li>Support HR data integrity across all platforms</li></ul>Onboarding &amp; Offboarding<ul><li>Coordinate new hire onboarding &mdash; checklists, paperwork, and system setup</li><li>Assist with new hire orientation prep and scheduling</li><li>Support the offboarding process, including separation paperwork and equipment collection</li></ul>Leave &amp; Attendance<ul><li>Track leave requests and maintain accurate leave records</li><li>Monitor compliance-related deadlines (FMLA, DC FMLA, DC PFL, ADA accommodations)</li><li>Assist with return-to-work coordination</li></ul>Benefits &amp; Payroll Support<ul><li>Respond to employee questions about benefits and direct them to the right resources</li><li>Coordinate with our benefits broker and insurance carriers as needed</li><li>Support payroll prep &mdash; gathering time records and flagging discrepancies</li></ul>Recruiting Support<ul><li>Post open positions and manage applicant tracking</li><li>Schedule interviews and communicate with candidates</li><li>Process offer letters and pre-employment screening</li></ul>Compliance &amp; Reporting<ul><li>Track background checks, certifications, and training completions</li><li>Run basic HR reports (headcount, turnover, leave usage, etc.)</li><li>Help ensure the organization stays current with DC and federal employment law requirements</li></ul>General HR Support<ul><li>Handle front-line employee inquiries with professionalism and care</li><li>Upload and organize documents in HR systems</li><li>Support the HR Director with special projects and administrative tasks</li></ul>What We're Looking ForRequired<ul><li>1&ndash;3 years of HR or administrative experience</li><li>Familiarity with HRIS systems &mdash; BambooHR experience preferred</li><li>Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities</li><li>Comfortable handling sensitive and confidential information</li><li>Clear communicator &mdash; in writing, in person, and by email</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)</li></ul>Preferred<ul><li>Experience in a human services, nonprofit, or government-contract environment</li><li>Working knowledge of DC employment law (DC FMLA, DC PFL, DC Paid Sick and Safe Leave)</li><li>Familiarity with Service Contract Act (SCA) or federal compliance requirements</li><li>HR certification (aPHR, PHR, or SHRM-CP) or actively working toward one</li></ul>Why Join KBEC<ul><li>Mission-driven work that makes a real difference in people's lives</li><li>Collaborative and supportive team environment</li><li>Competitive pay ($46,000 &ndash; $55,000 depending on experience)</li><li>Benefits including health coverage, Aflac, 401(k), paid leave, and all DC-observed holidays</li></ul>Accommodation &amp; Equal OpportunityKBEC Group, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
