Substitute teachers are responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment while ensuring continuity of instruction according to lesson plans provided.Job Summary:As a Substitute Teacher, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of education for students in the absence of their regular classroom teacher. This position requires adaptability, strong communication skills, and a commitment to creating a positive learning environment for K-12 students.Key Responsibilities:- Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to ensure that educational objectives are met across all grade levels (K-12).- Maintain classroom management and discipline in accordance with school policies.- Foster an inclusive and respectful classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.- Engage students through interactive activities and discussions related to the subject matter.- Monitor student progress and provide support as needed during lessons.- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding any issues or concerns that arise during the day.- Supervise students during lunch, recess, or other non-classroom activities as required.- Complete any necessary paperwork related to attendance or behavioral incidents.Qualifications:-College degree or education coursework preferred.-Prior teaching, tutoring, or childcare experience strongly preferred.-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.-Ability to adapt to different grade levels and subject matter.-Commitment to Koan School&rsquo;s mission of fostering curiosity, respect, and lifelong learning.Skills: - Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments and teaching styles for K-12 education.- Proficient in using technology for educational purposes.- Capable of managing diverse groups of students effectively.Working Conditions:-Flexible, as assignments may range across elementary, middle, and high school classes. -Collaborative school culture with emphasis on student growth and development.This position involves working within a school environment located on a farm.
