Job Type: On Call/As Needed 8:30am-3:30pm Monday-Friday

Compensation: Substitute positions are part-time and paid on a daily/hourly basis.

Position Overview:
Koan School is seeking reliable and flexible substitute teachers to provide classroom instruction in the absence of the regular teacher. Substitute teachers are responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment while ensuring continuity of instruction according to lesson plans provided.

Job Summary:

As a Substitute Teacher, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of education for students in the absence of their regular classroom teacher. This position requires adaptability, strong communication skills, and a commitment to creating a positive learning environment for K-12 students.

Key Responsibilities:

- Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to ensure that educational objectives are met across all grade levels (K-12).

- Maintain classroom management and discipline in accordance with school policies.

- Foster an inclusive and respectful classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.

- Engage students through interactive activities and discussions related to the subject matter.

- Monitor student progress and provide support as needed during lessons.

- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding any issues or concerns that arise during the day.

- Supervise students during lunch, recess, or other non-classroom activities as required.

- Complete any necessary paperwork related to attendance or behavioral incidents.

Qualifications:

-College degree or education coursework preferred.

-Prior teaching, tutoring, or childcare experience strongly preferred.

-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

-Ability to adapt to different grade levels and subject matter.

- Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments and teaching styles for K-12 education.
