Reporting to the Student Life Manager of the Black Male Empowerment Cooperative (BMEC). BMEC is currently looking for a highly organized Program Assistant to join the team. The Program Assistant will support all administrative duties to ensure effective function of both programs.</p><p>
Black Male Empowerment Cooperative (BMEC) is a project of the CUNY Black Male Initiative (BMI), whose mission is to increase, encourage and support the inclusion and educational success of students from groups that are severely underrepresented in higher education, in particular African, African-American/Black, Caribbean and Latino/Hispanic males.</p><p>
This position includes handling all logistics for BMEC, all scheduled training, programs and events. Responsibilities include and are not limited to:</p><p><b>
JOB DUTY AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</b></p><ul><li>
Performs basic administrative duties such as answering phones, responding to emails, filing, data entry and managing schedules, while also assisting in budget oversight for events and event planning. Respond within 48-hours to each email and/or phone call.</li><li>
Attend and supervise BMEC mentors in the BMEC Office;</li><li>
Coordinate semester events/workshops and handle logistics for all workshops/events</li><li>
Create and submit paperwork as needed which includes catering requests, multimedia and room requests; Design flyer, create sign-in sheets and submit as needed for every event, etc.</li><li>
Facilitate ideas and assist with creating programs/workshops for the students in the program along with the mentors</li><li>
Create event flyers, agendas, with event content</li><li>
Meet with mentors of the program to support their work and assist as needed</li><li>
Assist mentors with paperwork, case notes, and with mentees</li><li>
Assist in pairing of mentors to mentees</li><li>
Record student attendance at program workshops/events</li><li>
Manage and supervise the program office; Maintain and organize office and supply inventory</li><li>
Update social media networks for the Program</li><li>
Take minutes at regular Staff/Team and other meetings</li><li>
Assist in the coordination and tracking of mentor-mentee case notes</li><li>
Schedule meetings and/or interviews as needed</li><li>
Assist in the orientation of new staff and mentors by providing them with the necessary documents and materials</li><li>
Performs other related duties in accordance with instructions from the Student Life Manager.</li><li>
Update and print recruitment materials</li><li>
Update and print program forms such as intake forms and check-in forms</li></ul><p><b><br>
QUALIFICATIONS:</b>
</p><ul><li>BA/BS degree required</li><li>
At least 2 years with administrative or organizational experience</li><li>
Highly skilled in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook) and organizational databases.</li><li>
Must have strong oral and written communication skills</li><li>
Anticipated length of appointment: 12/1/2025&mdash;6/30/2026</li><li>
Ability to self-organize and manage multiple projects at once</li><li>
Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills</li><li>
Strong attention to detail</li></ul><p><b><br>
COMPENSATION:</b><b> </b>$23.00 per hour</p><p><b>
HOURS:</b><b> </b>35-hours per week</p><p><b>
