<div><div><div><b>Primary Purpose:</b></div>
<div>To assist in the administration of the payroll functions of the M&amp;O Department in a manner that preserves confidentiality and projects a professional image of the department.</div></div><br>
</div><br>
<div><div>RESPONSIBILITIES:</div><br>
</div><br>
<div><div><div><b>Major Responsibilities and Duties:</b></div>
<div><ul><li>Respond to employee inquiries and State and Government Agencies regarding payroll-related items in an accurate, professional and confidential manner.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Accurately record and submit employee payroll.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Assist/support non-exempt personnel in time clock procedures.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Verify that absences for eligible employees have been reported through the Employee Management System</li></ul>
<ul><li>Notify Human Resources of any absences not reported properly so that they may be entered manually in the Employee Management System.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Enter absences for eligible employees in the payroll system.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Ensure that eligible employees have the accurate and applicable number of local sick days, state personal days.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Monitor the number of absences taken by each employee to ensure that absences taken do not exceed the number earned.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Assist with tracking FMLA/TDL</li></ul>
<ul><li>Track employee overtime.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Send daily emails on absences.</li></ul>
 <ul><li>Assist with all personnel files for the office</li></ul>
<ul><li>Attendance at work is an essential function.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.</li></ul>

<div><div>EXPERIENCE:</div>

<div></div><div><div>QUALIFICATIONS:</div><br>
</div><br>
<div><div><div><b>Minimum Education/Certification:</b></div>
<ul><li>High School Diploma or G.E.D.</li>
<li>30 credited college hours or Three years of experience as an administrative assistant or similar office experience preferred</li>
<li>Valid Texas driver&rsquo;s license</li>
<li>Eligible for coverage under the District&rsquo;s vehicle insurance program</li>
<li>Knowledge of M&amp;O procedures and operations</li>
<li>Bilingual required</li></ul><br>
<div></div><div><b>Special Knowledge/Skills:</b></div>
<ul><li>Knowledge of payroll and accounting procedures including federal and state laws pertaining to the process</li>
<li>Operation of 10 key calculator</li>
<li>Proficiency in typing, word processing and file maintenance</li>
<li>Working knowledge of basic office procedures and the operation of common office equipment and machines</li>
<li>Ability to keep abreast of new rules and regulations related to payroll and accounting procedures</li>
<li>Ability to communicate effectively and courteously</li>

<div>Computer for specialized data entry, word processing and spreadsheet applications; printer, typewriter, copy machine and calculator.</div><br>

<div><b><i>Mental/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:</i></b></div>
<div>Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over), pushing (intermittent), reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, walking (intermittent), standing (intermittent), specific visual requirements, using computer and reading small print.</div>
