<div><div><b>Primary Purpose:</b> To facilitate the teaching and learning process within a positive learning environment (in-person, distance and/or virtual) so that students acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for them to become responsible, contributing adults in a democratic society.</div><br>
</div><br>
<div><div>RESPONSIBILITIES:</div><br>
</div><br>
<div><div><div><b>Major Responsibilities and Duties</b><br>
<b>Instructional Management</b></div>
<div><ul><li>Implement federal, state, and district guidelines determining and providing supports to students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Enhance the academic growth of students using effective teaching practices as utilized in the instructional model.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Guide the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum and IEP goals.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Employ the instructional methods and resources that are most appropriate for meeting student needs.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Meet and instruct assigned classes in the location and at the time designated.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Collect data and monitor student progress on a regular basis, and provide progress reports as required.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Have knowledge of learning disabilities and seek the assistance of district specialists on a regular basis.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Counsel with colleagues, students and/or parents regarding student achievement and the instructional program.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Provide in-person and/or virtual classroom management using reasonable rules and regulations.</li></ul>
</div><div><b>School/Organizational Climate</b></div>
<div><ul><li>Create an in-person and/or virtual classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Implement the LCISD philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Uphold and enforce school rules according to administrative regulations and Board Policies.</li></ul>
</div><div><b>Personnel Management</b></div>
<div><ul><li>Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s), and collaborate with department heads and/or grade level leaders, evaluate their job performance.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Work collaboratively with administrators to oversee the responsibilities of the paraprofessional in implementing student programs.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Provide training for paraprofessionals regarding data collection, and implementation of specific instructional strategies.</li></ul>
</div><div><b>Administrative Duties</b></div>
<div><ul><li>Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Prepare documents and attend ARD/IEP meetings for students eligible for Special Education.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Collaborate with general education teachers and related service staff to develop PLAAFP and annual goals/objectives for IEPs and to assist in providing an appropriate education for eligible students.</li></ul>
</div><div><b>Professional Growth and Development</b></div>
<div><ul><li>Attend district required and job specific trainings and staff development.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Accept responsibility for professional growth through workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Attend staff development as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or Superintendent.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Stay current on Special Education laws and information through research and readings.</li></ul>
</div><div><b>School/Community Relations</b></div>
<div><ul><li>Be available in-person, by phone, email, or video conferencing to confer with district personnel, students and/or parents.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Communicate with students and parents on a regular basis via phone, video conference, email, or district-approved website.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Make provisions for being available to students and parents for educationally related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.</li></ul>
</div><div><b>Other</b></div>
<div><ul><li>Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Attendance at work is an essential function.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or Superintendent.</li></ul>

<div><div><div><b>Minimum Education/Certification:</b></div>
<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in related field</li>
<li>Valid Texas teacher certificate or teaching certificate from out of state appropriate for position</li>
<li>Must meet requirements for highly qualified teachers</li>
</ul><div><b>Special Knowledge/Skills:</b></div>
<ul><li>Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction</li>
<li>Effective communication skills/collaborative working style</li>
<li>Ability to instruct students using a variety of technology applications and platforms</li>
<li>Ability to exercise effective teaching practices appropriate for assigned modality</li>
<li>Ability to support students with computer setup, navigation, and technology issues if assigned to distance and/or virtual instruction</li>
<li>Expertise in one or more academic areas and/or developmental age group or population</li>
<li>CPI certified or ability to receive and maintain CPI certification as needed per program requirement</li>
