A respected personal injury law firm in Farmington Hills is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Part-Time Legal Secretary to join the team through LawMates. In this role, you will support the firm owner while working directly with attorneys in a fast-paced environment.This opportunity is offered through LawMates, a staffing and training company that connects skilled legal professionals with law firms. LawMates allows you to maintain flexibility and independence while building your legal career.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Manage daily office functions, including client communication, court filings, and correspondence with police departments, prosecutors, and courts.</li><li>Maintain the attorney&rsquo;s calendar, including court dates, client meetings, and filing deadlines.</li><li>Track and manage execution of retainer agreements and initial client payments.</li><li>Record and track client payments, outstanding balances, and assist with billing follow-up.</li><li>Draft and file legal documents, including pleadings, discovery demands, and letters.</li><li>Organize and maintain case files, discovery materials, and client correspondence.</li><li>Request and track discovery from prosecutors and law enforcement agencies.</li><li>Proofread legal documents and correspondence for accuracy and professionalism.</li><li>Provide administrative support to ensure seamless daily operations of the firm.</li></ul>Position Details:<ul><li>Location: Farmington Hills, MI (on-site)</li><li>Hours: 8 hours per week or more depending on schedule (flexible scheduling coordinated with the firm owner)</li><li>Start Date: Immediate placement needed</li></ul>Requirements:<ul><li>2+ years of experience in a law firm setting is required.</li><li>Personal Injury experience preferred.</li><li>Experience with transcription and can type 70+ words per minute</li><li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced legal environment.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.</li><li>Ability to work independently and take ownership of case management tasks.</li></ul>Benefits of Working with LawMates:<ul><li>Flexible scheduling with direct coordination between you and the law firm.</li><li>Opportunities for professional development and skill-building.</li><li>Independence to manage your own workload while receiving support from the LawMates network.</li><li>Potential to expand hours and grow your placement with LawMates' other partnered firms.</li><li>Access to future fully remote legal support opportunities through LawMates.</li></ul>Job Types: Part-time, ContractPay: $28.00 per hourExpected hours: No less than 8 per weekPeople with a criminal record are encouraged to applyWork Location: In person
