A respected personal injury law firm in Farmington Hills is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Part-Time Legal Secretary to join the team through LawMates.
In this role, you will support the firm owner while working directly with attorneys in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily office functions, including client communication, court filings, and correspondence with police departments, prosecutors, and courts.
  • Maintain the attorney’s calendar, including court dates, client meetings, and filing deadlines.
  • Track and manage execution of retainer agreements and initial client payments.
  • Record and track client payments, outstanding balances, and assist with billing follow-up.
  • Draft and file legal documents, including pleadings, discovery demands, and letters.
  • Organize and maintain case files, discovery materials, and client correspondence.
  • Request and track discovery from prosecutors and law enforcement agencies.
  • Proofread legal documents and correspondence for accuracy and professionalism.
  • Provide administrative support to ensure seamless daily operations of the firm.

Position Details:

  • Location: Farmington Hills, MI (on-site)
  • Hours: 8 hours per week or more depending on schedule (flexible scheduling coordinated with the firm owner)
  • Start Date: Immediate placement needed

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in a law firm setting is required.
  • Personal Injury experience preferred.
  • Experience with transcription and can type 70+ words per minute
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of case management tasks.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 8 per week
